    • Challenging Cover and Spill Issues with Silicone Ice Cube Tray

I recently tried this silicone ice cube tray, drawn by its promise of easy-to-release cubes and a neat, reusable design. However, my experience highlighted a couple of practical issues. The most notable challenge was the tray's cover. It seemed to lack a secure fit, often coming off too easily. This made transferring the tray from the sink to the freezer a precarious task, often leading to spills and water leakage. Each time I attempted this, I had to be extremely careful, but more often than not, some water would escape. Filling the tray also required a delicate touch. Achieving the right water level without overpouring was difficult. Despite my best efforts, I frequently ended up with too much water, which only compounded the problem with the loose-fitting lid. This often resulted in water spilling inside the freezer or on the floor. On the positive side, the silicone material of the tray did make it easy to remove the ice cubes once frozen. The flexibility of the silicone was a helpful feature, allowing the ice to pop out without much effort.     • Very difficult to get cubes out

Even though these ice cubes are the perfect size for filling up my metal water jug, I've found that getting the cubes out of the trays is just a pain in the butt. You have to wait a few minutes until the ice melts a little bit so you can then push them out. The other issue is trying to fill them with water and then carry them to the freezer. That's an ordeal too. The tray is flimsy, which I think it has to be, but keeping it balanced and into the fridge without spilling is tough to do. I still have them, but I hate the process of having to fill them and get the cubes out, so that's why I gave them a mostly 3 star overall rating. ... show more

Glad I didn't buy a three pack of these. Very messy to use. You have to be really fine pouring in the water, or just settle for smaller cubes. The flexible bottom makes it floppy putting it into the freezer. I'll have to find some type of tray to put under it. The top does not fit on the bottom well, allowing more water to leak out. Once you get them out, and you wait for them to warm up a bit, they still take a while to pop out. Size of the cubes is great.
