Description

Don’t be fooled into thinking the Ibanez GSR Micro is a toy. It’s made to the same high standards of the other GIO series guitars. The GSRM20B features, small scale SR body, full sound pickups, the same construction, same materials, and same set-up and inspection as its full size counterparts. Its shorter 28. 6” scale makes it perfect for tour buses, space-restricted home studios, folks with smaller hands, as well as young rockers or beginners.

  • Sounds great when I play it right
Color: Walnut Pattern: Bass Guitar
I'm a beginner bassist so I never owned a bass before. To me, the bass feels right size and weight wise, it is easy to handle and to play on. I used it with a small Fender amp speaker at home for practice and it was great and later on stage when plugged in to better sound system, it sounded fantastic. All wood body which gave it a nice build quality and I just love how this looks. I'm sure there are better basses out there in the wild but this one felt great for a first time bassist like myself. ... show more

  • Worth every penny
Color: Walnut Pattern: Bass Guitar
Bought this little feller for a Church group we are part of. Since I'm short myself, and been a 6 string rhythm guitarist for 45 years, I figured the short scale would be more intuitive when I needed to switch to bass. That has worked to a "tee". Now on to the Mikro itself. The wood is gorgeous albeit kind of plain. The tuners have kept tune perfectly since the bass arrived. Kind of standard looking bridge and knows, but handsome in its' simplicity. This little bass makes my Cr8 BX50 sound as good as it possibly can. The pickups sound really good for an entry level bass, and the "roll off" from both the volume and tone sound fairly linear as you back off or crank it up. Five stars for the bass and five more for the seller. ... show more

  • This bass is an EXCELLENT value! After 50 years of playing bass!
Color: Brown Sunburst Pattern: Bass Guitar
Out of the box, this bass is an EXCELLENT value! After 50 years of playing bass, I switched to Short Scale and will never go back to a 34" scale bass. Playing Short Scale is so much fun, I feel like I am cheating! I purchase this Ibanez Mikro as a backup bass to my Gretsch semi-acoustic short scale bass.I own a very high end Ibanez 34" scale bass and thought that the Mikro could not possibly have same quality. I was VRY surprise! I bought the Sun Burst finish and it looks really good. The overall fit and finish is excellent. The electronics sound great. It feels incredibly natural while playing. I gave the this review 4 stars instead of 5 stars for two reasons: 1) The strings that come on the bass are round wound, sound very metallic, sound very scratchy, and buzz a lot. I thought I would have to do a set up. I started out by replacing the strings with a set of DR Hi-Beam Flat Wound SS strings (ASIN B00O48Z5FE). They appear to be heavier that the OEM strings. All problems solved! 2) The only way to switch between the pickup (which sound very cool) is to roll back one pickup volume and roll up the other. I'm going to install a micro 3-way switch. Not a big deal for me, but I think should have been included in the design. Still for what the bass cost, most players can deal with turning the volume knobs. After all, how often does a player really do that? The Ibanez Mikro Short Scale Bass is a excellent instrument for new players and old players. I highly recommend it! Update: I installed a Switchcraft 3-Way switch. See the photo. Now, this is a 5 Star bass! ... show more

  • I wish my amp didn't break, because I love this thing.
Color: Walnut Pattern: Bass Guitar
I got the walnut color, and while it doesn't have the burnt edge look from the product photo. it is... Just absolutely amazing. This is my first ever bass, and when I got it, it was so amazing, I tuned it, got it plugged in, and fell in love with the deep sounds and muted yet powerful tones. Then... My amp died on me. the wires became ungrounded, and static was running through the entire amp. 2 days into using my bass, and I can't use an amp until the amp I ordered with another product arrives. but, I love this bass, it sounds good even without an amp. Just makes it harder to practice with online lessons without an amp. if I end up getting a new job, and get enough to afford another instrument, the ibanez gsrm200 series is my next purchase, because it's the full scale bass of this micro bass. It had no right to be as good as it is for only $200 plus shipping. I highly recommend this bass, because I freaking love this thing. ... show more

  • Totally stoked on this!
Color: Brown Sunburst Pattern: Bass Guitar
I wanted a "cheap", decent bass to add tracks to some songwriting projects, but I'm not a bassist and had no clue what to get. So I read up the reviews and after a lot of research I chose this one based mainly on it's scale length and price. I'm 5'6" and this fits me really well, especially the span between frets. It is head heavy when playing while sitting down, so when I lift my arm off the body to grab a drink or use the mouse, the head wants to drop down to the floor. The body is on the thin side so it can also tend to want to slip out from under my arm when I'm not playing. Neither are an issue when actively playing :-) I love the tuners on this cheap bass, they hold better than my $500 guitar. I love the fit and finish on this cheap bass, as good as some really expensive models I tried in the store. I love the sound (especially the bridge pickup) of this cheap bass, although I'm not a bass aficionado. I love the fact that this cheap bass is from a respected instrument brand, Ibanez makes some serious gear. I love the color of this cheap bass, a nice tobacco burst without any gloops, glops, or blotches. And, I love the price of this cheap bass. ... show more

  • Love this bass - 3/4 size, lightweight, and sounds great!
Color: Walnut Pattern: Bass Guitar
Absolutely love this bass. I've owned and played upright basses, full size electric, ukulele bass, and acoustic-electric basses over about 50 years or so. By and far, the ukulele bass is the lightest and sounds most like my upright. But this Ibanez is relatively light (around 6 pounds), is easy to adjust action on if needed, and sounds wonderful. I used it when our band recorded their last CD. It will save your shoulder from those heavier full-sized electric basses :) It comes with round-wound strings. They sound very nice, but I may swap them out to half-round or flat wound strings, depending on the sound I want to get. Finish on the bass is very nice - not glossy, but is very uniform. Three knobs for the pickup system - top and bottom pickups, and tone control. The tone control could be a bit better, but this is not uncommon on many electric basses. Unfortunately, mine did not come with a bag, but I found one here that fit very well. Some traditional electric bass players may not be thrilled with the shorter neck, but if it saves me from shoulder pain, I'm all about that! ... show more
