  • Great product
It was everything I wanted in a retro system. Only negative I have is the wireless controller is not the best quality.

  • Good option for playing classic game carts
I was torn between getting this or the (much more expensive) Polymega, and decided to get this for now. Overall, it's a good option for playing original NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, GBC, and GB cartridges. The wired controller is actually pretty nice, although the wireless one is terrible (although it's more comfortable to hold than one might assume just by looking at it). If you don't have a NES/SNES/Genesis/GBA laying around, don't want to spend a ridiculous amount on a secondhand one, and you want to be able to play the games for those systems from the original carts, this is a solid option. ... show more

  • GB, GBC, GBA player
I was looking for device to play my GB, GBC and GBA carts. This device plays all my regular Game cartridges plus some GBA multigame carts like Mega Drive collection on GBA Cart. Also does good on Nes, Super Nes and Gens Cart. No software update needed. Had it for over 2 years still works great.

  • Good, but not perfect
As a kid, I always wanted a Gameboy Player. I learned about the Retron consoles through a collector and always wanted to try it out. It's solid, but not perfect. The notes I recalled prior to purchase was the sound card being a noticeable difference depending on the system you used. NES for example will sound off. I only used it for GBA stuff, so I couldn't hear a difference. I did have some issues setting it up when I first started and just a few issues figuring stuff out, but I did get there. I had a couple moments of laggy mess when playing through Metroid Fusion, so playing it on official hardware will always be superior. This is a present for my sister, I still plan on getting on own one day, but it was definitely cool to try out and experience. It might be a bit obsolete now with technology advancing and things like Nintendo Switch Online, but I still think it's worth it if you have a niche 3rd party game that you know wont be played elsewhere, or if you're just a collector. ... show more

  • Expensive lightweight brick
Forces wireless controller sync, once it synchronized its impossible to pass the calibrate the screen size message, the controller is on but does nothing, any wired controllers get not response either. This thing is an expensive brick.

  • Fun and Innovative!
I've had my Retron 5 for a week now and it works great! I will recommend to be mindful of the "death grip" and take care when inserting and removing cartridges. If I do have any issues in the future I'm sure the slots can be easily replaced. When it comes to third party emulation gaming, I don't expect to fully not have to put in some effort in the long run. Overall I am very pleased with the product, the controllers, and the functionality. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in an all-in-one console that reads original game cartridges, has plenty of controller options, and some really nice game settings features. I also like the exclusive controller it came with. It works great for racing and flight games. ... show more

  • Great system
2nd one. First died after moving, probably my fault.. Hade to purchase another one. This is the ultimate system for old school gamers. Hdmi up scaling, able to stop and add save for all games(Just stop and will restart where you were.). Also love the mix of game/console choices, doesn't just leave you stuck with one console but 5 different. So trip to the retro game store, you can look in all the cases! ... show more

  • Exactly What I Wanted
I was looking for a way to play old GameBoy games on the TV with my kids, this does exactly that. It also plays NES and SNES games, so i can stop fighting with those old consoles. It saves games to the console so the battery on the old GameBoy games doesn't matter anymore. It allows the NES and SNES controllers to plug in as well. There are controller ports on each side, so there are connections for player 1 and 2. It is exactly what I wanted. I do kind of wish it wasn't green and pink though. ... show more
