  • This is the ultimate SNES console you’ll ever need!!
I am very surprised at the quality of the SUPABOY. I bought this product with some doubt thinking to you’ll be a subpar third party system. But it is far more than that. The sound is amazing and the vision and gameplay is just like I remember playing Supper Nintendo as a young boy. This is the multi system can even plug in your tv! And you can certainly use the old or new after market controllers as well. To mention as well there’s a chargeable battery for it. Over all this product will take you back to the days of 16 bit gaming awesomeness! A system you cannot go with out. ... show more

  • Pretty Sweet Portable for the SNES/Super Famicom
Just came across this product thanks to Youtuber “MadLittlePixels”. At first, I was making my doubts since most retro consoles like the ones from pre-AtGames with the Sega Genesis retros were shown to have terrible performances from both built-in games to games you can play with physical cartridges, but after taking the time to watch over the review, I sense that this is a product worth obtaining. So, grabbed one without hesitation and gotta say, it is the best portable retro I’ve used since I can play my Super Famicom games on the go. I’m already playing Puyo Puyo Tsuu and Super Donkey Kong (also known as Donkey Kong Returns for SNES) endlessly on it. Anyway, that’s all for the positive side. The only downsides are the the consoles being only capable to hook up through RCA, which is pretty outdated in the modern era, sound quality being only good, but not great, the screen quality being the same like in a Gameboy Advance, which causes me to both raise brightness to max and tilting the console on the right angle, and last but not least, the L and R feel weird to press since I grow accustomed to pressing them like I would on a Super Famicom controller or Switch controller rather than side slanted angles, which is concerning for those playing games like Street Fighter 2, Doom, Mortal Kombat 2, Akumajo Dracula (also known as Castlevania 4 on SNES), etc. Anyway, hope those features get improved. But on the brightside, this is a great portable to take on the go. For all the SNES/Super Famicom gamers out there, highly recommend picking this up if you’re on a budget and can’t afford both the SNES and Super Famicom. And yes, it will play Super Gameboy games, too. As for cartridges, it’ll play anything. Real ones, repros, PAL, multi-carts, you name it. 👍 ... show more

  • Far from perfect but worthwhile
So like my title says this device is far from perfect but it does what I bought it to do and I am enjoying it. The upside is being able to play snes or super famicom carts on the go. The pros are that you can plug it into a tv and plug in multiple controllers into it. Thats awesome and works great. You can switch from 16:9 to 4:3 display so you dont stretch the image. Thats also cool. You can play japanese or european games. The downside is the tv out is still RCA which in 2020 is less than desirable. I would like to see a model with hdmi output and upconversion to at least 720p. Built in bluetooth would be great so you dont need to purchase an adapter to get wireless controls. A kickstand would be nice. Usb type C would be better for charging. Also SD card support so I can transfer Saves from Cartridge to Computer would be amazing. If these features were added I would consider purchasing a newer model. For now I am happy with the Black and Gold edition but there is still a lot left to be desired. ... show more

  • Favorite handheld
I love this product. Can’t get enough of it. A handheld snes that’s for the road but can also connect up to modern tv’s with the right equipment. So glad I purchased one. No regrets; highly recommended.

  • Right out of the box had issues on Day 1. Returned
The SupaBoy arrived yesterday morning and the first thing I did was plug it in (no adapter included, just a charging cord for this purpose) and put in one of my SNES cartridges - Axeley. The screen stayed black - I figured out where the reset button was and used it a couple of times and still the console wasn't reading the cartridge, so I figured I would read the instructions and see if there was SOMETHING I was missing...nope nothing, it SHOULD have been working.I took the cart out and made sure the pins were clean - appearance-wise they looked brand new. I also made sure the cart was playing correctly on my SNES. Instead of continuing to get the game running, I decided to leave the SupaBoy charging while I got on with the day for work. After maybe 4-5 hours I decided to check on the SupaBoy - the light indicator was green so I figured I'd try again. It FINALLY would play my game - I continued swapping out carts to test it out, playing each cart for about 10 mins each (total actual play-time is less than an hour). After I put in my 4th cart - Super R-Type - I noticed that the sound no longer worked. The game was playing but there was no sound no matter how I adjusted the wheel. I tried another cart and sure enough it had the same issue - gameplay was happening but there was no sound at all. And then the next cartridges I tried after this were back to only displaying the black screen. It had the same issue whether it was plugged in and actively charging and not plugged in. For a sanity check, I went to make sure that there was nothing wrong with my carts during this testing and sure enough, they ALL played correctly from my SNES. I'm extremely disappointed but I felt like I gave this a good troubleshooting from a general-user-perspective and have boxed it up to be returned today. I reordered a replacement so I'll update this review if I find that this unit was just defective and not an indication of bad quality control for the whole SupaBoy Blackgold line. ... show more
