  • Excellent
Feels amazing in the hand. Really like how it isn’t completely flat like the originals and not at all creaky like my originals are. All the buttons feel amazing and for the price don’t thing you could beat this thing. I even think it is superior to the oem snes controllers

  • Pretty close w/some minor issues
I bought cheap reproductions before and they had major button delays, I.e delays when you press a button to when the action takes place on screen This controller costs more but is really close to the original. I used to speed run Super Mario World (time was around 2 hours for 96 exits so not great) and there are a few things with this controller I noticed particularly on under water levels. If you press b once to swim you should roughly maintain you’re spot underwater. Occasionally, if you would press b with this controller, you would fly up the screen as if you were pressing b multiple times and holding the up button on the d pad. Seems like a strange issue and makes water levels challenging but still doable. I have yet to test Donkey Kong Country or any other games so there could be an update if there are other issues. I would say that for the average or above average player, this controller would be fine and is worth the money if your original controllers are falling apart. Don’t waste your time on the other cheaper options. I’m going to buy a second despite the minor issues, don’t think you are going to find anything perfect ... show more

  • It's a Hyperkin controller, so don't go in expecting a good d-pad.
In terms of shape, this controller is very similar to Hyperkin's own X91 controller for Xbox One. Unfortunately, this controller's performance can pretty much be summed up in the same manner as that of the X91 in that its ergonomics are fantasic, while the d-pad kind of stinks. Both this controller and the X91 feel great to hold, as the back isn't completely flat as is the case with the official SNES controller. The rounded sides of this particular controller are complemented with slightly rounded sections on the back of the controller, making them fit and stay in your hand so much more naturally. It's actually quite comfortable, and the controller generally feels exactly like the official SNES controller in most regards with this one exception. The performance is another story, though. Nearly everything aside from the d-pad is fine, but Hyperkin seems to have serious trouble making a d-pad with symmetrical performance. One side of the d-pad is always fantastic, while the other side of the d-pad is terrible. If you're playing Street Fighter II as Ryu, and you're on the left side in a battle, then you'll find yourself having little or no trouble pulling off Fireballs and Dragon Punches, but Hurricane Kicks are far less consistent. Pressing harder on the bad side of the d-pad helps, but you still won't get 100% consistency here. Get onto the right side of your opponent, and the opposite is true. Fireballs and Dragon Punches are really inconsistent, but you can Hurricane Kick like mad. Honestly, I can't recommend these for the price. I'd actually suggest just tracking down a used official SNES controller. Or even some of the knock-offs, as the d-pads on those are at least better than the ones on these controllers. ... show more

  • Drawbacks aside, a good controller for the price!
Pretty decent controller, two things though. The cord had a few nicks in it from how it was bundled together and packaged. Also the front grey "bezel" is just like a decal or like a sticker or something and was riddled with air bubbles. Other than that though it's a good controller and feels good in the hand. It has a quick response time with no lag. The 10ft long cable was the main selling point for me. I wanted a good wired controller with a long cable and this is the only one I've seen with a 10ft cable. The buttons feel good. Not clicky or too mushy. It is on the light side and feels kinda plasticky but overall it seems like a good controller for what I wanted it for. Castlemania was swift with delivery. It arrived in two days! The price was affordable and shipped for free. I gotta hand it to them. WOW! ... show more

  • Excellent Replacement SNES Controller
I've been using this as my primary SNES controller for several months now, even though I have four OEM SNES controllers that are relatively wear-free. I've wanted to put this thing through its paces before leaving a review and, well, I recently discovered that when I want to play my SNES, I don't even think about the original Nintendo controllers anymore, I instinctively reach for my Scout. Does it feel exactly like an original Nintendo branded controller? Not really, but it's leap years beyond any other third party pad that I've ever used for the SNES, going back to the original lifespan of the system. I have had similar good luck with the NES controller packed in with my Retron HD. I'm so satisfied, I'm going to go ahead and buy the USB version of the Scout (to replace my Buffalo controller which I've never been in love with) and I'm going to go ahead and buy the Genesis 6 button replacement Hyperkin also made. Great job, guys. ... show more

  • Worth The Price
The buttons are very responsive, cord is of a substantial length, and the design is respectful to the Super Nintendo design while having a few changes for comfort (curved backing for one). If you're doing a console restoration or want to have a good controller, this is it.
