  • 5yr of use review (spoilers it's great)
Bought this bag in 2019 for some mountaineering and cold weather camping/backpacking. This is a damn good sleeping bag with incredible value for the money. I've slept in temps as low as 5°F or -15°C and was reliably kept warm enough to sleep pretty well. It's very packable and lightweight and also durable. I've had this for 5 years now, it's been soaked in freezing cold water and survived rugged use. This bag still provides superb warmth and lofts up every time. Love the added details like the inner collar and abilities to cinch it around yourself. It's a mummy bag that also doesn't feel super cramped and I'm 6'2 200+. I love this bag and will definitely buy another one to replace if this one ever goes bad. ... show more

  • Toasty warm and light
We do a lot of high desert camping and backpacking. Used them down to 38F on a rainy tent and didn't need warm clothes to be comfortable. It's got a great big zipper, a phone storage pouch, and a good amount of room. If it's too hot, you can open it almost all the way and use it as a quilt. Love em.

  • Quieter than many bags, good loft, short means short.
Bought this bag in short for my 6 year old, figuring it'll last a long time. She slept in it three nights in a row, so that's a win. I've slept in it once to try it out. I'm 5'10" and it's too short for me. Probably okay for those 5'6" and under. It's cozy, and the nylon isn't super noisy like some bags. I don't like the zipper, which stops before the feet - good for warmth, bad for venting if you get too hot. The zipper also is super fiddly to restart when you accidentally unzip it all the way in the dark while half asleep. That's the negative bits. We got the 0 degree bag - haven't tried it below freezing yet (it's summer), but it seems well insulated and snugs up over the shoulders. The hood portion was a no go for me (too warm and I am too tall), but it should be great for my kid for the next 9 years or so. Super affordable and seems reasonably well made. Only thing I really don't like is the zipper, but it's not my bag, and the kid doesn't know any different! ... show more

  • Worth the money...would recommend and buy again
I'm a bit of a gear junkie. I wanted a down bag but didn't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money. Researched and read all the reviews. Figured why not, dropped the $149 and ordered the bag. I wanted a bag that was light for backpacking in the winter of PA and wherever else I might get to go. Shipped quick, although a day later than anticipated. 2 days took three, but it appeared that was UPS' fault. Is very compact, and followed directions when received to loft for 5 minutes and or throw in the dryer. I'm 6'0'' and 190, got the regular size. Length is perfect, could be a hair wider, but then with that you get cold air pockets, so not so sure about going with the bigger size. Had it out with Scouts for a Winter Klondike in temps of high teen's, low 20's, and was very comfortable with a pair of socks, and light thermals on. Didn't give 5 stars, as I'd like to get out with it more. Although if it continues to perform as well, I may buy the 30 degree bag too. And I do need to mention that the company reaches out to you and ensures you are happy with your purchase and answer any questions. Very prompt response to any inquiries. Will update the more I get out with this bag... ... show more

  • One of the warmest bags I've used
This bag is by far one of the warmest bags I've ever purchased for backpacking. It has a few drawbacks, but for a TRUE 0F bag it's spot on. Here's what I've done to test it so far. First, I took a backpacking trip in early March (Highs: 40F, Lows: 20F) around Greenleaf State Park in Braggs, OK. It's a 28 mile loop on some rough terrain. It was overcast the entire time, and a light mist seemed to be always falling. None the less, we pushed on and camped the first night within a stones throw of the lake. In hindsight, we should of pushed away from the lake a bit more due to the wind. Within an hour of sunset, the temperature plummeted. We had setup our tents and I had laid out my sleeping bag in my tent to allow it time to fluff up and expand. One thing to note: This bag REALLY puffs up once it's out of the compression sack. Crazy amounts of loft. OK - so after standing by the fire for a few hours the 12 mile day took it's toll and I fumbled off to my tent to try and get some sleep. Normally, I would be crawling into my Sea to Summit Spark II 35F bag, which only has a 1/4 zip (and is a huge pain to get into), and was pleasantly surprised to find that my bag had a full length zipper that would open from the top or bottom. I didn't realize how important this was until later. I crawled in and immediately found the texture of the fabric to be a bit tacky to the touch. I figured it was my cold skin, so I slid down into the bag. At first, it felt like sliding into an ice sickle. After about 30 seconds though, the bag started to warm up and the inner lining of the bag felt much better. Then, almost all of a sudden, I was WAY too hot. I don't mean just a little "let me open the top a little" kind of hot, I mean I almost started sweating within 3-4 minutes of getting into the bag. Holy cow! This is by far the warmest bag I've ever been in. Most of my other bags are 45F down to 35F with very little options to regulate heat other than sticking an arm out or unzipping from the top. Luckily, this bag had a foot zipper that I was able to unzip about 2-3 inches and that regulated the heat perfectly. The next two nights went the same way and I'm hooked. The biggest issue I have is getting out of the bag on cold mornings. I just don't want to. Ha! A+ bag! Highly reccomend. It's a bit on the heavy side, but for the price you can't beat this bag anywhere. ... show more

  • Arctic campout...warm!
This is fantastic-did a winter camp in NM in Feb...got to 8 degrees f (really) and this bag kept me warm. I did have a liner in it with all my clothes on, but it worked well...too warm above about 50 though-you will sweat. I'll take it to CO this summer for a Maroon Bells hike above 12,5. It's light enough and warm enough. ... show more
