I am not an experienced gardener. I use herbs to cook and wanted to grow some to use and some to dry for later. I researched the Aero garden and a few others. The price of the popular brand discouraged me from trying it. At the time of purchase, this was a new model. The lamp wattage, capacity, and size seemed to be the same or better than the main brand. This one didn't come with pre-seeded pods, which is fine. I followed the instructions and got several seeds packets. The timer for the light and pump has 3 settings, very simple touch control. The instructions tell you which setting they recommend for what you are growing, be it herbs, vegetables, or flowers. I planted thyme, chives, dill, oregano, basil, sage, and Italian parsley. After filling and covering ( I used spring water, not what they recommend but I don't have a reverse osmosis filter) I let it do its thing. It runs quiet. I have it on my kitchen counter, the pump is barely noticeable. The grow light does flicker when the pump turns on and off. After only 4 days I started to get sprouts!! Everything grows at different rates but eventually, every seed pod sprouted. I used the supplied food every week and changed the water after 2. Now a month later, I already have to trim the dill. It is growing like crazy. It has been a breeze and works great. It has also been a nice thing to involve the kids with. Seeing how you can use hydroponics in place of soil, watching root systems develop, and seeing how much water it consumes as the plants get bigger. I don't see how the Aero garden could do much better. I will keep going with this crop and am already planning what to do next. I wouldn't mind getting a few of these since they are so much more affordable. If I have any issues I will update it. The only concern I have is if the pump disburses the nutrients around the whole container or not. Because I grew so many different plants, it's hard to tell, but it seems like the ones closer to the pump are thriving. I'm wondering if, instead of a round sprayer on the pump in the center, a wide pipe that went the length of the container that attached to the pump would be better. Next I think I will grow all the same plant and see how it does. If I find something, I will update this review in a few months. Now that I've used this for a few months I would definitely recommend it. After I put the first group of seeds in it only took 10 days or maybe 2 weeks to actually start seeing green. Personally I let them grow for another 2 or 3 weeks and then switch into planter pots and start a new set of seeds. It's quick, it's easy, and it does all your work for you. I honestly can't think of any cons other than needing to buy more of the sponge-things to start the seeds. It seems to be good quality. I haven't had any leaks or any of the lights not working. All I can really say is that it's quick, easy, and efficient. Very 'user friendly' and I'd recommend it. ... show more

I have been so impressed how quick the herbs grow, looks nice and easy to care for. I have frozen several harvests so far. I have started fresh a couple times as they get too big. The only seed I am have trouble with is Cilantro. 75% of those seeds have not grown at all. Another thing we noticed is how flavorful the herbs are fresh! I recently purchased the Hydroponics Growing System with 12 Pods for my husband to grow herbs. In general, it has exceeded his expectations! We have many deer in our area that eat everything we try to plant and decided to give this a try indoor because of its limited space requirements. The setup was a little time consuming and required reading other reviews on the site. All the necessary components were included with the system. I was impressed by the system's sleek design, and the 12 pods allowed me to cultivate a variety of herbs which are all growing well except for the basil. The hydroponic technology proved to be incredibly efficient. It's a hands-off gardening experience without sacrificing the health and vibrancy of my plants. We bought this to start seedings and it works great, especially for seeds that require cold stratification. We've started several different types of seedlings without having to cold stratify them. We've had about a 97% germination rate of the seeds we've started using this system.

I bought this thinking I would have to return it because the price was so low. I had absolutely no expectations considering the comparable systems I have are 250 bucks. I have six of those. This little baby is amazing. Is easy to set up. Has a very deep well which is usually the issue on most systems. I love the adjustable light. It is much better than my expensive systems very easy to work and you don’t have to screw all of the attachments. Great So far, I’ve seen nothing bad about this system. I love the viewable water level. Somebody put a lot of thought into this design. They obviously had a lot of experience working with hydroponic systems because I would put this up against the best of the best and it probably would win. ... show more
