I am protected, I can throw it on over whatever I'm wearing, and it's absolutely breathable. First time I wore it to work my hives, I was less sweaty that with the cotton duck *jacket*. Awesome! I will say that I'm 5'5" and when I first tried it on, I was a little surprised at how precisely the torso length fit me- if you get my meaning. I was worried I wouldn't be able to bend and move without discomfort. But I tried it with the hives anyway, and it wasn't a problem at all. Solid brass oversized zippers. Triple layered suit. I feel extremely safe and very comfortable in this suit. I returned two other suits different brands that cheap zippers and or had bad sewing.
