  • Two Minor Issues, Still a Must Buy
Color: Space Gray
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I wanted a stand that would allow me to have my computer closed and tucked behind a monitor for a cleaner looking desk space. Looking for in purchase: -Sturdy -Value -Well constructed -Clean Lines -Color match to the MacBook (Space Grey) Design: Love the sleek and simple design. It is a heavy plastic with rubber padding. The system is simple, the weight of the laptop closes the top and it secures the laptop. Color wise, it appears a touch lighter than the space grey MacBook, but I could also be a bit picky. The lines and design are sleek and it looks great in the setup of my desk Issues: There are two minor issues. First, if there is movement in the laptop (ex. Earthquakes or a desk that is bumped often) the stand will loosen. Second, and the more minor of the two, the pad leaves some rub marks on the computer case itself. Cost: 29.99 Positives: ++Material ++Look ++Design ++Build Quality ++Cost (even though it was a gift) ++Color match to MacBook Negatives: --Loosening on movement --Rub marks on the computer Final Thoughts: I love the stand and the price I paid for it. Is it perfect, no, but it is the closet to perfect that I have found yet. I have to give it a bump for the way it loosens and the rub on the computer, so only 4 stars, but that is better than anything else I have found. Would I recommend: Yes, I love the stand and I don’t think I will find anything better. I have already recommended it to three people and I recommend it to you too. ... show more

  • I really wanted to love this for my new 16" MBP...
Color: Space Gray
The idea for these and the video convinced me to buy one each of these for my wife and I. But upon trying to use these, I found that they were not exactly as advertised. First off, if you do have an external case on your 15-16" MacBookPro then you run the chance of the pressure point being too wide for the arms to adequately "pinch" the sides of the laptop, thus allowing the laptop to "sag" to one side which in turn torques the edge of the stand and tips over the entire assembly. But even with the thinner cases (as the description claims this stand supports) the stand just didn't have a solid grasp of the laptop like I had expected from the video. I suspect these work better with 13" MBP and 11" MacBook /Air models, but having not tested them I can't be sure... I think these is some basic physics at play here that makes heavier laptops less suited for use with these stands. ... show more

  • Flimsy crap! DO NOT BUY.
Color: Space Gray
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I have been looking up laptop stands that work for a 16" MB pro for a while. As I am sure many of you saw this product came with high reviews. My question is HOW????? When I got the item it wasn't in one piece. The 2 plastic edge pieces were not connected and it came with no instructions but it was relatively to figure out after some fiddling with it. The stand is super lightweight and matches the macbook color very well, I can say that much. Other than that it is flimsy crap. First off it has a HUGE opening. You could literally fit a bible in there or like a laptop from 1998. This means there is a lot of room for your laptop to wiggle around.. it does not hold the laptop snug. Obviously you dont want a super tight fit but this goes in the opposite direction and is completely loose. your laptop doesnt really stand up in this STAND, it just leans back. If you look at my video you can see that if the laptop leans too far back it will just fall over, and this is unacceptable for people who pay hundreds or thousands for their device. The rubber feet on this stand also move freely in their slots and do not reach the full length of the stand. Other than the look of the stand this thing is absolute trash. I wouldn't be happy with this thing if I bought it from Five Below, let alone paying $30 for it. DO . NOT. BUY. look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Has a hidden and not talked about feature for working in clamshell mode
Color: Space Gray
You’ll see this stand on plenty of youtuber Tech reviewer influencer desks understandably given it’s half the cost of its round competitor from 12 South. Many of the other reviews cover most aspects pretty well, but here’s one more detail. The thing about clamshell mode in MacOS, is that all the goodies that you use plugged in over thunderbolt won’t be active until the computer is on an has been logged in. Bluetooth accessories by apple seemingly the exception. What this means is that you have to take the laptop out of its stand, open it up, hit the power button, and depending on whether you get keyboard activation maybe type in your password on the macbook itself. That’s relevant because most stands make you pick the macbook up, hover it over with one hand and operate it with the other. Arguably as dumb as having the magic mouse 2 charge port on the bottom of the mouse, or apple pencil sticking out of ipads like a joke render for a tech reviewer’s april fool’s day post. I miss having a computer that has all its parts interchangeable on the inside and resent Apple promising to fix this but pricing almost everyone out of the market and leaving us in a perpetual dongle hell of daisy chained points of potential failure. But this stand makes this one part of dongle hell 2% less annoying, which is more than most of the competitor stands. Would like to see a next version include rubber flex in the middle that’s thinner and wider base on axis of flex. Pros: Less expensive than direct competitors with similar fit and finish, rubber flex accommodates many different models and also allows opening for power button use, anodized finish a good match (to macbook space grey) Cons: not a wide enough desk footprint on axis of rubber flex to feel as sturdy as possible, rubber flex portion a little wide for newer macbokks (some wobble) ... show more
