I got it to use as a remote welding setup. I have had no problem using it for that. I have used it with a stick welder and a MIG. Gone up to 100 amps with no problem. Hint: get an inductive hour meter to keep track. The one on the panel resets to zero every time it is shut off.

I'm very happy with this little generator, it's pretty impressive for what it is. The design is great, it's laid out well to keep it relatively light weight and compact. It's pretty quiet, easy to operate, and should power the basics whether you're out camping, experiencing a power outage, or just need power at a remote location to work or whatever. With 1800 sustained watts, and 2000 starting, don't expect it to run your whole house with heating/cooling, but it will certainly handle lighting and small appliances for an R/V, tent camping, or even a home without power. It will handle a small/medium size window unit A/C to about 10,000 BTU, or a microwave, hot plate, refrigerator, etc. but only one at a time. To try it out, I placed it on the back of our gold cart and went around trimming limbs and small trees using an electric saw. It handled the load just fine, and was far easier to load and haul around than our larger generator. It's quite efficient too, burns a lot less gas than a larger one, especially if you use the Eco mode that throttles the engine down and only run fast enough for the load. The manual is informative and very legible, though there was a couple things missing. Like the vent on the fuel cap, there's two positions, ON/OFF, that are not mentioned anywhere. It's simple, ON opens the vent and let air into the tank as fuel flows out, OFF closes it to seal it up. It should be turned to ON any time you're running the generator. The "engine control switch" on the control panel isn't explained completely, or at least not clearly. I've included an image with notes to help. Starting fully anti-clockwise, the first position has the fuel closed, and ignition off. This will kill the engine immediately. The next position is a small range where the ignition is on, but the fuel is still off. Turning to this position will let the engine run the fuel out of the carb, which is very handy when prepping the generator for storage. The next position is ignition on, fuel on, normal operation. The last position still has the ignition and fuel on, and also closes the choke for cold starts. Use this when starting the generator with the engine cold. Once it starts, turn the control back to the normal running position. The choke is not needed for starting with the engine already warm. Note that it ships with no oil in the engine, you'll need some standard 10W-30 motor oil. It takes about 10 ounces. One quart will be enough to fill it the first time, with enough left to change it once. The manual suggests changing it after the first 20 hours of use, then every 50 hours after. Personally I let the engine idle using the eco mode switch for the first 5-10 minutes, then switched off eco mode to let it run faster with no load for another 10 minutes or so. Shut down and let it cool, then use with a light load for an hour or so, just to break the engine in easier. There's two small access doors. One to check/fill/drain the oil, and one on top to get to the spark plug. I'm also including some images with the larger covers removed, to get a look at what's inside. It's a neat little package and laid out well. There is also foam inside the covers to dampen the sound and keep the covers cool. There's insulation around the exhaust/muffler to keep the plastic from getting too hot. There's ample airflow through the unit to keep everything cool. There's also dense foam rubber padding everywhere the covers contact to keep any rattling away, which is nice! Overall it seems like a quality unit with a lot of thought in the design. I needed to do some carpentry repairs on our smokehouse in our woodlot. It's a ways off from our longest extension cord, so a portable jobsite generator seemed a perfect solution. Once oil and gasoline were added, I set the control valve to choke and it started after a couple of short, easy pulls; but ran so quietly I wondered if it was running properly! LOL! I plugged in my 15A Mitre saw and went to work on the 2x4s I needed to cut. Took a bit more than an hour. No issues at all, and actually no noisier than a neighbor, three houses down running their lawnmower. I'm going to set up a concrete pad, closer in towards the house so in emergency power situations, we can keep our freezer and refrigerator running using extension cords. I was surprised that it doesn't have any 30A outlet for easy household connection, but the extension cords will work when they may be needed. The package is nicely made, and while it's heavier than a typical suitcase of clothes, it won't have to go very far. I'll add to this review when I need to use it in an emergency situation, but hope I never have to! ... show more

Having at least some kind of generator is a great benefit during hurricane season, and ironically that's when you can find one the least. I was super glad to be able to get this one before the rush and have time to test it before I actually needed it. It passed with flying colors! First about the unit itself - it came very well packed and the instructions are great and easy to follow. It's a bright color so easy to spot, it's fairly quiet for a generator, and it's got a lot of power considering it's size! I was able to power a few appliances with it to test - the instructions say you can get about 4 hours out of a full tank of gas which I heartily believe. Note that it does NOT come with oil, but that's to be expected since it was shipped. Easy to get that literally anywhere. It is on the heavy side but honestly if it wasn't, I'd be concerned...it's a generator! The biggest selling point here to me is again that it's fairly compact, especially for being so powerful. I'm using it as part of my storm preparation for my home, but you can easily use this in an RV, camping, or even for events without it being a back breaker. Highly recommend this generator...it's a great performer, especially for the price and handy to have for emergencies! ... show more
