  • Not to shabby 😉
My wife and I camp alot and I mean a ton we go 2 weekends a month and do 2 or 3 week long trips a year. I have had this generator for a little over month now and have ran it for 4-6 hours stretches and it has been great I see people saying it won't start after running it for a while and I had this problem 1 time and a quick check of the oil and a little top off and bobs your uncle been running like a champ ever time I use it. Just remember that it is a pice of equipment and there will be routine things to be done. Check your oil every time you put gas in it and don't store it with gas in it (that one is important) and try to have it as level as possible. After 14 years camping I have had several types of generators and I will say so far this one of the better are there better you say Y yes there is but for this price point it is a very good deal 👍 ... show more

  • Does NOT have a "Fuel Shutoff Feature"
Purchased this generator primarily to power our small travel trailer with a 13,500 BTU A/C unit. There are several reasons why I pulled the trigger on this particular model. Most other models with 3000+ watts of start up power weighed anywhere from 80-100 lbs. I didn't want to break my back hoisting it in and out of our tow vehicle. Hudson claims 48 lbs in their description. The box says 55 lbs, when I set It on the bathroom scale (no fuel or oil), it weighed 52.5 lbs. I also wanted a generator with a fuel shut off. Even if fuel stabilizer is used, when fuel remains in the carb for a longer period of time (storage etc.), it can and will clog the jets. Shutting the fuel off to the carb and running the generator until it runs out of fuel prevents problems later on. Hudson claims in their product description " Fuel shutoff feature". Yet in their owners manual you have to pump all the fuel out, remove a bolt on the bottom of the carb etc. It says nothing about a fuel shutoff. Without the fuel shutoff, I may be returning it and starting my search all over again. ... show more

  • Good little generator.
Only had it for a few hours so not too much info to give. I have it plugged into a 28' travel trailer with 30 amp power. It's currently running a 13.5k a/c (in Florida so it's definitely running), the fridge, some lights (all led), and a tower fan. Not sure I'd ask too much more from it. I'm currently sitting next to it, about 3 feet away and it's averaging 67 decibels, a bit quieter than a phone ringing. From 23' away it averages 58ish or so. Bounces around that area. No clue about how long fuel lasts. Haven't had it long enough to find out but it's been running for 2 hours so far and I still see gas in there. Doubt I'll be able to run it dry today, grumpy neighbors. Does not come with oil in it. But it does come with some tools including a screw in oil funnel. Which is handy. No mess. Used full synthetic 10w-30. Holds just shy of 1 gallon. Small engine so I'm using ethanol free rec 90. Though I'm sure if you have it, ethanol free 87 would be just fine. I use it in my big generators. Tripped the breaker once but that was my fault, turned too much on at the same time. Other than that it's just been a humming along. At this point I definitely recommend it. If I had the spare cash I'd get another and a parallel kit, always handy to have more power. And I almost forgot, the instructions, troubleshooting, and warranty booklet is legible. Definitely written for english speakers. Can't say much about the spanish section cause well, I don't know Spanish. But it's there at least. I'll update if I get the chance to run it dry on a full load to see the run time or if anything changes. ... show more

  • Hudson Motors 4,500 watt - WOW! 😁
UPDATED REVIEW FOR THE HUDSON MOTORS 4,500 WATT GENERATOR (released in fall 2022). I previously wrote a review for the 3,300 watt generator, but it has since been discontinued and replaced by the 2,000 and 4,500 models. Please note that as you read other people’s reviews, many of them were written for older models. The new 4,500 watt unit is awesome! It is more than powerful enough to power everything inside my 33ft travel trailer rv, including the air conditioner, and I no longer have to ration how much power I use at one time. Also, the expanded gas tank allows me to have between 8-16 hours of use on one fill up (depending on the load I put on it. Running the air conditioner heavily will reduce it to 8-9 hours). That is a vast improvement over my older 3,300 watt unit, which could only last 4 hours on one tank of gas. The trade off is that it is much heavier. My previous generator weighed around 60lbs, whereas this one weighs about 105lbs (dry weight, adding 2 1/4 gallons of gas adds a few more pounds). That is not a problem for me, but for some people that could be a turnoff. With greater power comes greater weight unfortunately. Hudson Motors compensates for this somewhat by adding wheels and a towing handle to help you drag it around instead of carrying it. You just have to be strong enough to heave it up into your vehicle or rv. One other trade off is that it is also bigger, so storage could be an issue for some people. I lucky enough to have a storage bay on my rv that is big enough to hold it (after some slight modifications to the storage area). If you are putting it into a truck or other towing vehicle, then this probably will not be an issue. I strongly recommend this generator, as long as it is not too heavy for you. ... show more
