I did not buy them for the blackout function but they do eliminate a good amount of light. I would highly recommend these curtains if you are feeling drawn to them. Note: each package contains only 1 panel. You will need to order 2 packages to cover one window. I purchased 2 colors of this series: 1), Tea Time China Blue, 2) Tea Time Green. 1) China Blue is an off-white background and beautiful! It keeps the room colors feeling bright (I find lots of curtains make the room feel heavy and dark when closed and lights are on) while providing some color contrast and interest. 2) Green is on a gray background, which was a surprise, and therefore doesn’t provide the same effect as China Blue (i.e., brightening, vivid contrast). Not sure if I like the look of green-on-gray since I was hoping for a more cheerful look. Both) keep out all light on either side of the curtain so you get the room darkening effect. I would definitely recommend these curtains so long as the buyer is aware of the two background colors: either off-white (with China Blue) or gray (with Green). ... show more

I absolutely love these curtains! Please note they are sold in individual panels, so I purchased two. They darken the room nicely but also look lovely in our dining area. They fall past the floor so they pool at the bottom. The material is a heavy satin feel. They are not lined, but they still cut a significant amount of light from coming into the room. I wouldn’t consider these to be “sheer”. I believe they can only be professionally cleaned according to the tag. You could probably get away with steaming them if you had a mini steamer. ... show more
