On the plus side, very well packaged. I dont think it was ever used, there is not a mark on it and the feet are not even scuffed. Window opened with "Lets get started, choose your language". I picked this one because I wanted a minimum 16 MB ram and lots of HD. The selling point though was the processor, very powerful for a laptop in this category - you can get better but you will be into 4 figures. It performs as i would expect so far. I even loaded WOW and it plays without a hitch, pretty god for a laptop with integrated graphics. Now for the one little issue I had. It would NOT work with an external monitor. Would not recognize one and gave a message that it could not use and external monitor "try a different video card or reload the divers". A different video card was not possible. I reloaded the driver and no good. I tried the built in windows tool to find a better driver, and it was useless as they always are. It did show the driver loaded on the adapter was from 2006 !! Holy crap, 17 years old? I was about to re-pack and send it back to Amazon when I decided to try one of those free driver updaters. It found a new driver from 2023, loaded it and bingo - it worked. A 17 year old driver....I was about to give 4 stars just for that but the 3rd party driver updaters are out there and easy to use so if you need to, go that route. Powerful, ultra portable notebook with one flaw. Pros: - Powerful processor - The speakers are surprisingly good. Make sure to go into the HP Audio Control app and enable the equalizer and balance out the base so it doesn't sound tinny. - Integrated ATI video performs well even in mid range 3D video games. - The laptop arrived in mint condition and well packaged. Looks brand new. Koodos to the seller. - Came with Windows 10 Pro and you can upgrade to Windows 11 for free. - Fast solid state drive. - Super light weight and portable. - Nice long power cord (about 6 feet long) Cons: - The software for controlling the video card from ATI is confusing for novices. - The display generally looks great, but it can't reproduces red colors well at all. You will mostly not notice this unless you need color matching. Adjusting the ATI settings to compensate is impossible since it is a screen quality issue. - The screen does not get bright enough to use outside in sunlight. Overall, this is a great laptop at a super price. Highly recommend as long as you don't need perfect color representation. ... show more

    • Don't buy this laptop... can't get thru setup, FAILURE. Bootleg Windows 10 OS-doesn't work!!
It's a waste of time and effort to buy this HP laptop, as I could never get thru OS setup 1) OS won't load because it is not a licensed Win 10, but a bootleg OS 2) touchscreen doesn't work, probably because OS isn't loaded 3) the screen flashed off and on several times, glitching, during attempt to load OS In addition, there are several major hiccups during attempted setup that indicate that the OS is a bad bootleg copy of Win 10 -- a non-licensed non-authentic Microsoft Windows OS. Nowhere is there any indication that the Win 10 OS is a licensed copy. this explains why it has so many problems. Bootlegged SW should not be sold as a genuine product. Shame, shame on the seller - PT ELECTRONIC TECH LLC - and on Amazon as well for allowing them to continue to market and sell this bootleg Windows 10 trash that doesn't load the fake Win 10 OS. ... show more

I ordered this model and it was a great laptop as advertised. Backlit key and fast start-up with plenty of ram and an SSD drive. I installed all the virus/malware scanners and Free Office for a college student. I noticed that the battery wasn't charging. The warranty said it guaranteed 80%. There was no HP support assistant software installed so I reinstalled it to find up what was wrong. Once installed it did a full health of the laptop and said the battery needs replacement. I also found that the laptop had 8 months left on its warranty from HP. Being a tech, open up the back and see the battery is new. I replaced the battery anyway; put it together and it still wouldn't charge. HP Assistant says to replace the battery. I just did that so the software is lying. Doing more research and trying different methods I found the answer. HP has a model legacy throughout the years. The battery needs to be hard reset so the laptop will charge. SOLUTION: With the laptop off and plugged in PRESS and HOLD the power button until the LED power indicator light goes out. When it boots back to Windows and hover the pointer over the battery on the task bar you will see a charging indicator and time left to full charge. For me, it took about 30 seconds. Researching it to find the answer took 3 hours. No trouble since. I can see people returning it if it didn't charge but this trick would save so much drama. ... show more
