  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Think carefully
I LOVE HP printers, usually. This was a series of Murphy's Law. The first one decided it didn't like the HP ink cartridges that came with it telling me that they were not HP cartridges. I sent it back. The 2nd one decided I didn't have WiFi and refused to recongize anything other than an Ethernet connection. HP Tech support was excellent. The guy would not give up trying to figure this out. I finally had to tell him it was dinner time and I had to go cook. I waited a week or so and did research on other printers. This model HP was still the best choice for the printing I do, so I held my breath and ordered a 3rd one. the set up for these new printers is a joke. it tells you to use your smart phone and then you have to send a link to your email to set up your computer, which then tries to tell you to use your phone for easier set up. I long for the days that I plugged a printer in, asked my computer to search for new devices and then wham bam thank you printer you are set up and ready to print. The print quality is as expected from and HP product, nice. This one came with 6 months of free instant ink. So HP is monitoring my usage and will send me new ink so "I never run out". Starts with 700 pages a month and after 6 months it is $5.99 a month and only 100 pages. I don't print many pages a month so that won't be bad, the challenge is will $5.99 a month really save me money??? Time will only tell. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Deal
It's a very good deal for home or small office use. It includes 6-month free ink and can monitor the ink usage to ship ink supplies to you automatically. Setting it up is straight forward. WIFI connection responds well. The size isn't compact and not light weight comparing to Epson and Brother but acceptable. The only complaint I have is the document feeder. It doesn't always detect the paper inserted in the feeder. It is a good idea to double check the feeder before copy or scan. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Difficult only when it doesn't work!
The positives that I have found are scanning both on the glass and the feed are good. I especially like the two sided scanning which I couldn't find in another printer. copy is very good. Photo printing is good. Now the con: after one month, I had a message on that little screen stating, "update." I new that would mean something wouldn't work. It wouldn't print, but scanning and copying did. It took 6 hours to resolve the issue. That is too much time. 05-23-23: I found another problem and it is not the printer. it was our home internet connection. Called and was helped through the problem. Thank you HP. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars This printer is OK
I recently purchased an HP printer for my home office, and after several weeks of use, I have mixed feelings about its performance. In this review, I will share both the positives and negatives I have experienced with the HP printer. Pros: Print Quality: The print quality of the HP printer is generally good. Text documents come out sharp and clear, while color prints are vibrant and accurate. It is capable of producing professional-looking prints for various needs. Connectivity Options: The printer offers a range of connectivity options, including USB, Wi-Fi, and mobile printing capabilities. This versatility allows for convenient printing from multiple devices without the need for physical connections. Compact Design: The HP printer has a compact design, making it suitable for small office spaces or home use. Its size and lightweight nature make it easy to move and position wherever needed. Cons: Slow Printing Speed: One of the major drawbacks of the HP printer is its slow printing speed. It takes noticeably longer to print documents compared to other printers in the same price range. This can be frustrating, especially when dealing with large print jobs or time-sensitive documents. Paper Jams: Another issue I encountered with this printer is frequent paper jams. Despite careful handling and loading of paper, jams occur more frequently than expected. Clearing the jams can be time-consuming and interrupts workflow. Limited Paper Handling: The paper handling capacity of this printer is limited, with a relatively small paper tray. This means frequent refilling, which can be inconvenient when dealing with high-volume printing tasks. Software Issues: The accompanying printer software can be finicky at times. It occasionally freezes or experiences compatibility problems with certain operating systems, requiring troubleshooting and updates to resolve issues. Conclusion: The HP printer offers satisfactory print quality and a range of connectivity options, making it suitable for basic printing needs. However, its slow printing speed, frequent paper jams, limited paper handling, and occasional software issues are notable drawbacks that can impact productivity and user experience. While it may be suitable for light or intermittent printing tasks, those with heavy printing demands may find these limitations frustrating. Overall, I consider the HP printer to be a decent option but suggest considering alternatives if speed and reliability are top priorities. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Set up
No end to set up problems. Thought USB connection would work. No its got to go through the network connections. When you try to print it is often off and difficult to start because it will not connect to the network. If you need a printer for a home office, buy a simpler printer.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Printer
This is a great printer, never jams, has wonderful print quality, I use the scanner a lot and the automatic feed is superb! I bought a second one of these and decided that we would have two printers for the whole house instead of every computer having a printer. This seems to be working out just great as it is wireless and we can print from out phones, tablets, computers, etc. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but loud printer
So far the HP 9018e printer works as advertised, albeit a little noisy, esp. when first powering up. Setup was fairly straightforward but a little research beforehand convinced me to just steer clear of the HP+ or Instant Ink offers (which HP sells hard). Just install per the instructions, connect to your home wi-fi and install the HP Smart app, which installs the drivers for each computer/mobile you want to print from. You do have to create an account on HP Smart but after you get everything set up you don't necessarily have to sign into it to use the straight printer/scanner functions. Again, DO NOT accept the HP+ or Instant Ink offers because the printer will be locked into HP's marketing scheme for life. ... show more
