    • Lovely Clock, Great Chime Sound
This looks great on a mantel with a chime that sounds as if it is coming from a full-size grandfathers clock. You have the choice of several chime schemes including my own favorite: Westminster chime. You can also silence it at night or just turn off the chime. I note several negative reviews here but they do not match my own experience. The external appearance is handsome. The internal mechanism is quartz and is housed in a plastic shell, but no one other than the person changing the batteries or the chime scheme would ever see it. So I don't understand that criticism. I have another mantel clock by the same manufacturer and the batteries last literally for years. An utterly trouble-free clock. When it arrives you put the batteries in, set the time and the chime and put it in its chosen spot. Other than time change twice a year, you won't have to do anything to the clock beyond enjoying the rich sound of its chimes. ... show more

Beautiful clock on the outside.. Open the back and it looks like a ten dollar Timex. For $279.00 I expected it to look a little classier. It doesn't even come with the two "C" cell batteries required to run it. Howard Miller goes to the bottom of my list of products...

    • The chimes are fantastic!
This is bigger than it appears online, but it's beautiful! The sound is fantastic, it sounds like a full size grandfather clock! It keeps perfect time and love the chiming on the quarter hour. I was very happy with the purchase.

    • Major Disappointment
This clock rates a big fat Zero. Not only does it not have the Whiitington Chime as advertised and the reason that I bought the clock but the case looks and feels like cheap plastic. I couldn't return it fast enough. Too bad it is not the quality of Howard Miller of yore.
