  • Works well, easy to use
Works great. Used it at my rental. After 3 years, I got a LOT of sediment from the tank and it was flowing clean after 5 minutes. I like how this disrupts the sediment and makes draining / flushing faster. Easy to use.

  • Clears the lime deposits out
I used the product last night. I think my water heater was pretty limed up. (We have very hard water). The device addressed the problem. During the process the kitchen faucet got stopped up and I had to apply reverse air pressure to the faucet to clear it up. I ended up getting a lot of lime out, a lot of big chunks. The drain valve kept clogging up so I had to keep working with it until it ran freely. I worked for about 3 hours on this, and I will probably have to have another go at it. 90 PSI seemed about right. Now that I'm more familiar with this process, it will go more quickly. The device works well. The design and materials are good quality. I expect to use this for a long time. The clear plastic let me visually monitor what was going down the hose. It would be best to use this before the water heater gets too bad. Best for routine maintenance. I would buy again. ... show more

  • Worked well AFTER putting in a better washer
I saw this device promoted on a YouTube video. I was convinced it SHOULD work because it makes sense -- it lets you burst some air through the drain line to break up sediment in the water heater. (A similarly promoted device that connects to a drill and slaps a wire around the inside of a water heater sounds like a terrible idea!) At worst this one should not cause damage to the tank. We have a house with an old water heater that was making lots of noise, so that was to be my first attempt. I opened the Sediment Buster, got out an air pump, found a good water hose, and connected everything as suggested in the instructions. I was surprised when water was pouring out all around the yellow fitting and made a big mess just beyond the water heater drain pan. I could not make a good seal! As you can see in the photos, the black pliable washer that came with the Sediment Buster was a bit too small AND too flexible, so it wadded up into the clear part of the tube and didn't seal against the water heater drain at all. I opened my box of hose washers and happened to find a yellow one that was much stiffer, even though it was old and previously used. I also have some brand new orange rubber ones I was going to try next, but the yellow one was completely satisfactory. I hope the manufacturer stops including the soft black washer and puts in a firmer washer that will seat better. After that small catastrophe, I found the Sediment Buster worked pretty much as advertised. Every little bit I used the pump to shoot some air into the tank while water flowed. I drained the hose into a large tub so I could watch for chunks of amazing crud, but all I got was very fine grey stuff. I continued the process until it seemed to be running clear, and the water heater no longer makes loud thumps when heating. SO I assume it worked just as it should. Highly recommended AS LONG AS you have a better hose washer to use. ... show more

  • Must buy and older unmaintained water heaters.
This sediment buster is a must buy for anyone struggling with sediment in their water heater. As I'm replacing the existing water heat out, we knew there a good amount of sediment in the tank. This truly was the part I needed, in the morning when I started draining the water heater. After 3hrs of a consistent dribble my wife remembered this and we ordered it for same day delivery, finished the job in just over an hr on 50gal tank. I did have to do multiple flushes with a portal air compressor and it worked straight off the bat. Great investment for annual maintenance on your water tanks. ... show more

  • Works perfectly for what it is made for.
This thing is fantastic!! I could not drain my water heater due to it being plugged with so much sediment and a few blasts of compressed air with this little tool cleared it right out, I would be looking at another water heater if I didn't discover this simplistic and magical tool.
