And it’s a very low cost investment, for the basic necessities in being able to do plumbing jobs. The cutter is actually very precise and I didn’t need to use any other tools for the edges. I was surprised by this. I love that it came with clamps because I only needed about 4 and I didn’t have to buy a pack. It works great and I don’t see a need to upgrade. Time will tell. But for a few jobs here and there I don’t see it breaking. For the cost, it pays for itself in only one minor job, but still I don’t like to support business that makes things for the landfills. Even after 10 years of use and for $2, I don’t want to support trash being produced. So i appreciate the low cost combined with what appears so far to be durable. ... show more

After shattering another piece of brittle PVC and having water spray everywhere during a recent bathroom remodel (that would’ve been a good NSFW video), I decided I needed To try PEX. This kit has been working perfectly for me. The crimper tool is high-quality with a nice smooth ratcheting system.     • Very good tool for the price

I used this to make two 1/2" joints so far, and it worked perfectly. It's a sturdy took and could do 1/2" joints all day without any problem. I have not tried it on 3/4" connections. For 1/2" connections, it is a good tool for the price and completely adequate. If you are a DIYer, nothing more is needed. As others have noted, it takes just a little muscle (not much) to get it started when the handles are spread out. Once the handles come in closer together, it's not difficult to squeeze them together. The entire crimping operation is ONE squeeze of the handle. One language nuance, it is NOT a "ratchet" as described. To me, if it were a ratchet, you could squeeze the handles all the way together, and the jaws would clamp down a little, then you could release the handles a little and squeeze again, and the jaws would tighten more. That's not how this works. The entire clamping operation happens with one squeeze of the handles from open to closed. If you stop in the middle, it will hold that position until you squeeze again to complete the crimp. I could see it being a little difficult on 3/4" connections, but on 1/2" (even without a ratchet feature), it's fine. ... show more

I was skeptical because all similar sets I've found locally and online are much more expensive. I've now used this set multiple times on 3/4" and 1/2" PEX, and it works perfectly. For someone who only occasionally does DIY plumbing, this set is fantastic.

It's supposed to do two things and seems to do those two things. And for the price, it's pretty easy to use. Time will tell how sturdy it is, but so far, it feels substantial. The settings button is a little fiddly, but once you get the hang of how to switch from setting 1 to 2, it's not that bad. It's not like you need to switch it that often. I actually see the cutting feature as a bonus, but it's a nice bonus! The leverage requires a bit of strength, but for the price, totally worth it. If I were a full-time plumber, I would probably still get it. ... show more

    • A cheap method to DIY PEX connections

I am not a plumber but decided to DIY a repair on my house's pressure regulator valve. The Good: Unless you're using 1in Pex, this kit has all you need to start. The tool resulted in a tight seal with no leaks. It is affordable and built well. A nice feature is the crimping tool does not return back to the open state until the crimp head reaches a certain point, ensuring the pex clamp is at its optimal tightness. When you're DIYing on something like plumbing where incorrect installation can be costly, a feature like this is much appreciated. The bad: It does require a good amount of force to close the crimp tool completely. This isn't a deal breaker but should be considered depending on the person and space you're working in. Attempting to use the tool in a tight place (deep underground) with little leverage can be a challenge. I ended up having to use a woodwork trigger clamp to clamp the handles together to perform the crimp. Overall, I was very satisfied with the results it produced, quality, and price of this item. ... show more

This crimp tool with clamps has worked perfectly to fix leaks on our RV plumbing. I used both the clamp part and the cutting part to remove clamps off of the tubing and install new clamps. We had a leak show up during a trip and I was able to use this kit to make a temporary repair while on the road and a permanent fix later.
