  • Well made and does a great job in 2500 SqFt basement in Georgia
Impressed with the quality, speed of lowering the humidity and its quietness (low vibration). I'm looking forward to years of use instead of continual replacements. Also, I took a chance to get the internet capable dehumidifier without the water pump. It is so nice to check and control the basement environment from upstairs or away from home. My only con is after the desired humidity is reached, the compressor turns off OK and cools down but the air circularization fan continues to run until the humidity reaches 5% lower than the set point. That's a 65 Watt drain, not much expense at a couple pennys a day, but it is the noise, wear and extra dust collection in the dehumidifier filter. At thirty days of use, my average dehumidifier expense is approximately 38 cents per day. ... show more

  • Honeywell 30 Pint Energy Star Smart Dehumidifier
It works really well. Our basement was damp and musty. We ran it for a week and brought the humidity down from 85% to 44%. Very quiet and energy efficient. With the basement dry now, the musty odor is done.

  • Good unit. Mediocre voice control
The dehumidifier appears to work well. Now, why would a California girl need one of these? Well, in the summer, it gets very hot and horrendously humid in the valleys. I can deal with heat, but not with humidity. Plus, I have a home studio with a lot of expensive music gear that I don't want flaking out early, so this unit will be purring away in July and August. The unit appears to be well built. Shiny white plastic isn't my ideal material choice but at least it's not shiny black plastic. The handle on top feels sturdy, but it flexes when I pick up the unit. I'll pick this up from the sides if I need to lift. The display is kinda bright. I have light perception and don't think I could sleep with it shining away. Thank goodness for the sleep mode. Just set the humidity high so it doesn't turn on when you don't want it to. It runs when humidity is 5% above the set value and shuts off once it reaches 5% below the set value. It's not too loud, sans the sound of rushing air. Worst case is I pair this with a portable Aircon and offload dehumidifcation to this thing which uses less energy and will let me run it for less time. One funny thing. The product listing says this unit is for 1000 sq ft. The manufacturer site says it's for up to 2000 sq ft, so I accidentally bought a super-oversized unit for my space. My area is 500 sq ft with a washing machine behind a door, so humidity tends to rise a little higher than the rest of the house. This will definitely be able to keep up. I can feel the dry air blowing out of the front when it's on. I hae one huge issue with the physical unit. The power chord is comically short. Voice control and app functionality is limited. I'm blind and know the Honeywell Home app is quite accessible. Unfortunately this uses the completely separate Honeywell Air Comfort app which is borderline unusable if you're blind. This uses a completely separate account as well. Seriously? It's doable on iPhone with image recognition. I can't speak for blind Android users. Alexa allows you to set the humidity level, turn the unit on and off, and set the fan speed to low or high. That's it. No data from the humidistat, no turning on night mode, no setting the timer. By the way, this actually works with Google Assistant despite not being advertised. Don't bother. You can turn the unit on or off and nothing else. So, long story short, the physical unit is good, save for the short power chord, the voice control needs some work, and I can recommend this to anybody who is blind or low-vision, so long as you're tech savvy and use iOS. Talkback users will have to try out the app for themselves. The manual is on Honeywell's website and mostly accessible if you're willing to search around for text. ... show more

  • NICE PRODUCT WITH 5 YEAR WARRANTY
Size: 4000 Sq. Ft
Nice Honeywell unit. I researched all the available units both home and commercial. Honeywell is the only unit available on the market that I could find with a 5 year warranty. I called the manufacturer prior to my purchase to confirm that. I spoke with a service rep within 5 minutes of being on hold 👍. They explained the warranty and claim procedure. The unit was sent FedEx direct from the manufacturer. Arrived timely and in great shape. I just recently installed it. I mounted it on a countertop in the utility room of my 700 sf basement, within a few hours it brought the humidity down from 70% to 50% at 62 degrees Fahrenheit. As it has roller wheels I mounted it on makeshift wheel stands to prevent it from rolling on the countertop. (The wheel stands are plastic paint can spouts from Home Depot Bear paints.) I have the unit connected to a hose drain which drains into my utility slop sink. The supplied hose drain is flimsy but will work. I instead connected a washing machine rubber supply hose to use as my drain hose. It screws right on to the unit’s drain fitting on the back. The drain bucket is fairly small on this unit so I recommend connecting it to a drain, otherwise it will need to be emptied often depending on the application. So far the unit is working well and relatively quiet. Quieter than the Toshiba unit it replaced (lasted only 30 months and then froze up, wouldn’t dehumidify, out of warranty 👎). This Honeywell unit is the Consumer Reports top recommended unit (I checked) for basements and large spaces so let’s see has it preforms in the long run. So far so good. ... show more

  • Not very practical if you want to use the continuous drain option
Size: 4000 Sq. Ft
The unit works well at reducing humidity. However, the 3 prong power cord and continuous drain hose are too short. I learned that this unit doesn't have a pump. Very limited to area that can be plugged in while using the 3 ft drain hose. Without a pump the continuous drain has to empty into a drain near the floor, otherwise the unit must sit on a countertop near a sink drain. For optimal functioning I need to place unit in a central location of home. The bucket option is okay if you can be home to empty when it fills up. I will try to find a longer drain hose to attach which will drain into my shower drain rather than return unit for a different model. I will elevate unit on a dolly if necessary to allow a few extra inches for gravity flow. I'm reading reviews that say the pump on other models fails. Honeywell 5 year warranty is a plus. The Energy Star rating on this model has good reviews and I prefer to pay a little more up front rather than have a higher energy bill down the road. It is overwhelming to shop among all the models and features, Make a list of what you want in a unit, This is a good choice but consider the limitations for continuous drain. ... show more
