I cannot review the product because I only received an empty (unpadded) envelope which was tossed, or more likely floated, onto the porch. If indeed the product had been in the envelope - which declared itself "lighter than their smallest box" -it surely would have been smashed to smithereens. Where did the ceramic block go? Ive used the Honeycomb soldering block countless times. Its not been Babied or treated with kids gloves, Its been knocked around some. The thing has suprised me with its toughness. Strong little fellow. Nice size and was very nice price also. Best deal out there as far as im concerned. I highly recommend this tough piece of equipment. BTW. the honeycomb holes are approximately 1mm. I use bailing wire for pins to hold down work while being soldered. ... show more

    • Takes a lot of heat from my torch.
I needed a stable surface to silver solder on. In the past I I used charcoal block to solder on and since ai had many things to solder, the charcoal block didn’t last very long. Constantly smokes with torch solder. Catches fire occasionally. Cracked in half after first few uses.

It was broken in half. BOTH times I got it. Don't buy this unless you're ordering enough other stuff that will be shipped together in a BOX. Both times I got this item it was sent alone in a bubble mailer.

    • Works great for jewelry repair
I needed a soldering surface to repair earrings by silver soldering using a butane torch. This worked well, helping to maintain the overall heat of the repair without damaging the underlying surface. The board has tiny holes which does allow the flame to go through, so be sure and set the soldering board on a brick or metal surface. The holes also help in holding the small wires that I was using in this repair. This is a great surface for small to medium sized jewelry and fits easily in my tool box. ... show more

This soldering pad is excellent. After a few months of repeated use involving heating and cooling and being knocked around it finally cracked.
