  • Works reliably after one year
Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug NACS (For Tesla EVs)
I use it inside my garage and it works just fine on my Tesla, no issues after one year of use. The cord feels sturdy and flexible considering the thickness required for the high current . The cable only gets slightly warm to the touch while charging - so that's good. The device connects to my home WiFi and this allows me to get the NJ discount for off-peak charging. One small quibble, the colored light on the front provides the status of the device, and I'm sure this is a cost savings over having a status display, but who remembers the meaning of the eight different status indications? Tip: I printed out a cheat sheet and stuck it on the front as a reminder. Tip#2 If you want to make use of off-peak charging, you need to use the ChargePoint app to set the desired charging time, not the similar Tesla feature. ... show more

  • Simple Install. Quality Build.
Style: NEMA 6-50 Plug NACS (For Tesla EVs)
Easy install. Heavy cables. Very short wall plug cable limits location of charger. App setup straightforward. NACS plug worked great on 2025 Hyundai 5.

  • Chargepoint Customer Service is the worst I’ve ever experienced
I’m warning you, it’s a mistake to buy this charger. In particular, as it relates especially to support by Chargepoint company itself. Received unit and installed it easily to my garage. (professional of course). Was straight forward and everything was basically seamless. From the Chargepoint app on your phone, you connect the device to your phone, then wi-fi, and then Chargepoint account. No problem at all. Worked for one day, and then disconnected from wi-fi. Had to call Chargepoint support, which means you wait on hold for at least 30 minutes, often longer before speaking to someone. If you opt for a callback, you will never get one. After spending over an hour on the phone resetting the charger remotely, and having me attempt to reconnect the device, the issue had to be escalated. The escalation after several days (communicated by email and my having to call in frequently) led to a second device being sent to my house where it was installed and as with the first one, connected to my phone, wi-fi, and account seamlessly. A day later, same as the first one, it disconnected from my wifi (light on side of unit turned off) and it would no longer connect either to wifi or account. This disallowed usage of the app. The unit charged the car, but there was no ability to monitor charging sessions or set schedules or view historical sessions. After several more hour long support calls, it was determined that a 3rd unit should be sent and as expected, it failed after 2 days of working. One might think that the problem is at my house, but I have countless devices connected to my wifi with no issues, including a wireless door opener/camera which is 1 foot away from the charger and has never had an issue working. So it is most likely a hardware or firmware issue with the charger. At this point I said enough is enough and requested a refund which Chargepoint should honor for 3 years. They said they would honor the refund in an email that I kept. Once I officially requested the refund, they stopped answering my emails, and when I called in 2 times I waited on hold for over an hour before disconnecting the phone. I then logged an issue with the Better Business Bureau and requested a refund through Spreetail who sells these on Amazon. At first Spreetail refused to provide a refund due to it being over 30 days from delivery, but thankfully Amazon backed me and finally Spreetail agreed to take it back. During this ordeal, I have learned that Chargepoint chargers can work seamlessly, but also people like me have glitchy systems and if so, forget about getting support from Chargepoint. It’s a joke. I couldn’t believe a company just turning you off once you request a refund? One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve had some doozies. I’ve now ordered the Emporia level 2 charger and the reviews I’ve read indicate that people in general have a very favorable opinion of the charger and experience. My advice, don’t take the chance with Chargepoint. Choose a better company. ... show more

  • Good
Works as expected. App is nice in that it estimates how much you’re spending to charge your vehicle if you enter the local electric company.

  • Older models have WiFi issues - be sure to get new stock
Update 5: Adding back another star. I received my replacement today - several weeks after initially contacting them with the issue. I needed to remove the NEMA cord on the replacement they sent since I’m replacing a hardwired unit. They also sent a NACS charging cradle in a separate shipment, which I also had to remove / install. I was able to finish the entire swap on my wall in just over an hour, including prep and cleanup. The new unit installed without any issues - connected to wifi immediately. Hopefully this model (says “Rev 5” inside, vs Rev 1 on the model I received from Amazon’s 3rd party seller) has been modified to fix whatever WiFi ailment the older models had. Again, phone customer service was very responsive and helpful and in the end it seems my issues have been solved. Update 4: Adding back 2 stars. I received my replacement tracking number today. The CP customer service has really been good, albeit time consuming. I do feel for Chargepoint, and this really isn’t their fault. My theory is: demand spiked due to fear of Federal EV rebates being cancelled - and at the same time they were dealing with a relatively manageable ~3% failure rate of their WiFi cards. But the fear-driven spike in demand created a wave of warranty claims (and numerous Reddit posts) causing delays within their replacement infrastructure. Hopefully things will improve after June 3 as demand should slow to a manageable level. Update 3: removed all stars. Now the charger is completely non-functioning. Will not charge, will not connect. Pulsing yellow light. Customer service is extremely slow in sending the replacement - still has yet to ship - and now I have no way to charge my car. I’m now aware that my issue is fairly common - though the “highest rated” reviews don’t indicate any issues. But the most recent reviews are consistently bad. Had I known I would have purchased another brand. Best to avoid charge point until they get their act together. UPDATE: Removed 2 stars - 2 weeks after my successful install the WiFi stopped working. Did all the normal reboot stuf, tried to reconfig wireless, etc. After 45 minutes with tech support they couldn't figure it out. It's now a high priority ticket and I'm waiting for add’l communication. Seems like some of these units have WiFi issues and I may need to go the return / replace route - not ideal with a hard wired unit. Thankfully I don't really need the WiFi since the charger works fine to charge my car without it - and my car's app shows me some good info about the active charging process. Original Review Opted for the Hardwired model, had it professionally installed. Quick and easy - charges my car within the advertised specs. Easy to remove the plug and re-hang when done - and the 25' cord may come in handy at some point. Not sure why so many bad reviews - ChargePoint chargers are highly rated elsewhere. Very happy with my purchase ... show more

  • Sleek and Powerful Charger
My electrician was able to install it relatively easily. It’s nice and sleek looking with it not being big at all so it fits nicely in the nook in the front of my garage on my driveway. The app is very easy to use. It charges my car at its maximum charge rate.
