Very happy with the purchase. On the positive: Easy to assemble and handle. Electric, so it just works even after you stored it for years Surprising amount of torque. Be ready to let it go or it will floor you. You don't have to fight with a 'gunked up' carburetor, or loose your arm trying to start it. I live in south Louisiana and this year was the worst drought in recorded history. I have about 3 inches of top soil and then solid clay the entire way down three feet. I was digging 6 holes 3’X 3’x 3’ for fruit trees. I can’t say it did well but I suspect a gas powered auger wouldn’t have done well either. The clay was like concrete. The reason I went with this seller over others was the tool would have a bag. Unfortunately it doesn't fit the bag. Hopefully the seller will reach out to remedy before I have to return. Id like this to work out. I just need a bag that will work maybe they need to re measure the alugars? Ill update if seler fixes or I end up returning. Like I said only issue thus far was the bag but I haven't used it yet other then to make sure it worked. ... show more

Figured this would turn out to be yet another unusable purchase, not that I've ever done that before, but I WAS WRONG! This is well built and far more powerful than I had thought it would be. You still have to be careful about catching a root or rocks that are larger than you expected but that's true of any auger. The fact that there is no hot exhaust or pollution makes this a wonderful tools. No gasoline or mixing of 2-cycle oil and this auger is far less heavy than most. I needed to make 14 6" holes for new shrubs and this beautiful machine ripped through tough roots and some seriously rocky soil in no time. The auger arrived on time and worked perfectly. I was able to set 15 posts, 3 feet deep within a few short hours. I hit a few roots, but just slowly chipped through them by letting the bit do its thing a little at a time. This worked a thousand times faster than my post hole diggers. 2 things I would improve are that the extension would be twice as long, and that the bag would be big enough for the bits. This unit was extremely easy to use, attach the auger, put in the Carter pin, plug it in and pull the trigger. It is nice to have two size augers in case you run into roots or extra hard soil, their 4 inch auger will dig easier and not get hung up. When I say hung up I really mean spin you around because that little motor is pretty darn strong, excellent torque so don't try and bite off too much too quick or you could wrench a wrist. I put in 10 fence posts 32-36 inched deep so for me it was well worth the investment. And I went electric because I didn't want to mess with gas and oil and the noise of a 2 stroke motor or the vibration. Plug in and go worked great for me. You do still have to have a manual post hole digger to clean out the residual dirt that falls back in the hole but that is very easy since it is already loose. ... show more

Disliked the fact that there’s no reverse switch. The auger’s drill tip gets bound in larger roots and it’s extremely difficult to dislodge it.
