  • More Than A Game - Highly Recommended!
High Ball is more than just a multi-level, multi-player, electronic game, and therefore warrants noteworthy praise in several respects. The designers have come up with a vision and product that, while classified as a game, fills a unique niche that goes beyond such a description. Not only is it a challenging game suitable for one, it is suitable for a gathering of friends and family and can be enjoyed competitively, or merely for relaxation. At the same time, it is an artistic creation complete with original High Ball soundtracks that can be enjoyed along with its unpredictable soothing glow of soft-colored lights while perched in its own custom display stand on the shelf. It has a smooth, comfortable, and well-made solid feel to it, and is sized just right to hold firmly while attempting to out-wit this seemingly intelligent challenger. Playing against it feels as if a turbo-charged, puzzle timing dimension has been added to the excitement of a block-buster cube puzzle on steroids popular in the past, except that the High Ball is an aesthetically pleasing perfect sphere that incorporates lights and sound and yet has no moving parts to lose or break. Powered by a rechargeable battery that lasts for hours with a micro-USB cord (included), the High Ball is perfect for home, or travel. As a gift for others no matter what time of year, you can be fairly certain that the recipient does not already have one. And since getting several going at one time is a blast, bring yours, too. The design team has put together a very professional video accessible online that is both instructional and entertaining, hence it is highly recommended. The video is what first sold me after stumbling across it while searching online for High Ball (drink) glasses. However, I can now say without a doubt that the game is far better! In addition to the online instructional video, High Ball comes with easy-to-read printed instructions. However, whether by design or omission, the instructions fail to advise the user how to turn the game Off! No worries - it didn’t take long to figure it out: Press and Hold Down one of the two gaming buttons and the unit will shut down. If in writing the instructions this was an inadvertent omission, these things happen. Alternatively, if the designers intuitively sensed that players would not wish to stop playing, then bravo for them – they were spot on. Either way, I give this innovative, multi-use trend-setter my full endorsement and recommendation. ... show more

  • Marketing bad - product GOOD! Buy this object
Dude. The way this thing is marketed does it no justice! I am a stoner so that's obviously why I had to have the High Ball - BUT it's so much more than a stoner toy. It's a beautiful sensory experience everyone can enjoy. It's gorgeous just sitting on a shelf on its perfectly designed base doing it's thing but is so much fun to hold and touch the lights and sounds. The game is not the best part in my opinion but it's entertaining in a group setting. The music tracks are soothing and entrancing. I really think anyone you gave this to would love it and remember it as one of their favorite gifts for a long time! You don't really "get it" until you GET it - so buy one and thank me later! ... show more

  • Purple level doesn’t work
Game seemed fun, until 10 minutes later when I realized once you get to the purple level the game stops working. It doesn’t give you ANY time AT ALL to find the first purple. Even if by random luck you start on purple, you still lose. I can’t be the only one with this issue.

  • This toy is a lot of fun for all ages and stages of inebriation.
Just got this toy in the mail the other day and am loving it. The game is not that hard to pick up and quickly becomes addicting. If you tire of the game or become to inebriated for it you can turn on "really high" mode and just relax and enjoy the music and lights. I don't know if it's quite worth the $40 I paid for it but I'm not returning it. The instructions say that you should be careful with it and not drop it. I haven't tested this and don't plan on it, but the instructions make me think that this is more delicate than it appears. It did not take the full 2 hours to charge per the instructions which was nice. The top turns green when it is fully charged. If I could drop this without worry and if the price was lower I would give 5 stars. ... show more

  • I Wanted To Like It
I bought one of these when it first came out as it seemed like a neat toy like the Simon games. And then I hit the Purple level, where it immediately fails you. You can lock in the first Purple light if you're ready for it and very fast to spin the ball, but it's a cheap-shot or more likely a bug that was never worked out and most people will just give up. I *think* after locking in one purple it's a bit more reasonable with time to lock in the next, but it's still pretty fast since it's a more advanced level. I've locked in the first Purple multiple times, only to fail one or two Purple lights later. So basically, the fun stops at Purple and the entire product is tainted with this feeling of "did someone actually test this? or is it in-fact just a joke to not be able to pass Purple and screw with anyone that's on the wacky weed and never played this before?" I can say that I like this for ambiance on an outdoor table. I've used it a few times in the light mode setting like that. Not sure it's worth $30 for just that, since it's supposed to be a game -- and as a game, the novelty falls off a cliff at the Purple level. The idea of this game itself is solid. I thought house guests would like it, but even rolling the ball around through the easier levels, it seemed anyone else felt it was a bit of a chore. Not many even made it to Purple to experience that "WTF?" moment.. The earlier colors are too easy -- it gets harder at Blue and again, that's where most guests I've had play it seem to give up. For anyone that does make it to Purple it's an instant-fail and that's that. I'm not sure what could have created a more compelling long-lasting game. All the elements are there between music, a light show and something that functions differently than the Simon games by having you roll a ball around to lock in colors. I think the progression of difficulty had been tweaked and you had a chance to beat Purple and then go another 3-5x colors before chaos mode set in, that would have made it an enjoyable game. But early levels are too easy and too much of a chore to make it through just to hit Purple for the instant death mode. Despite all of this, I'm still compelled to pick it up once in a while -- to try to beat the impossible. That's now the game to me. I'll have a few drinks and challenge the Purple mode. That said, if you do decide to buy it to try to beat what amounts to a glitch, a bug, or a bad joke -- don't plan on ever seeing Purple the whole way through. It may not be beatable. And it's likely you or a house guest will throw this thing at the wall out of frustration. You've been warned! :) ... show more
