I've had this for over a year now, it has yet to fail me. First off, I work for a military branch and own nothing but macs, so it's hard to find reliable CAC readers. This one works great for CACs and for any apple computer. It's durable and has worked for me well for over a year now without any issues. It has a sticky sticker incase you have a permanent place for it, however, if you do not, it has a stand. PROS The cord is not too long, and not too short. Just right. Very good product, much better than other smart card readers. Can require some effort to set up on some Linux distributions. Overall I can definitely recommend this product. The physical design of the product is also well made and will probably last a lot longer than other readers I've bought from other manufacturers.     • Works fine, seems well, made, and it keeps the card off my desk
I've used other readers that were cheaper but they were poorly made and were flat to the desk. The Omnikey makes it much easier to simply plug in the card and later extract it. The construction is solid and the cable seems much better than the cheaper devices that I have previously used - longer, more flexible and generally seems to be made of better materials. ... show more

No setup required, just plug it in and it's ready to use. I like using the included stand that keeps my smartcard upright and easy to see; it keeps me from forgetting to remove it once logged in.

It did not work as anticipated with my Mac when I originally purchased it. However, now that I am using it as an employee of the company rather than a contractor, it works great. It works on the company computer. It did not work on my own computer with the company card.

    • What many call a CAC card reader
If you are working from home and you work in an area where you need a device like this...you know what it does. Anyway this version is simply a plug and play device on a windows 10 laptop. It simply worked right off the bat and I did nothing but simply connect it and then use the appropriate card. I will buy another one for a spare, I like this for the reason I noted (it works) and that it stands vertical. Yea its plastic ...but so far its been a great tool that works well. ... show more

Good price but no directions came in the box on how to install the reader. It took me 2 days and a visit to my I.T. guy for help with installation. Wish this product came with an install wizard.

It's a really nice CAC/smart card reader. No drivers to install with Windows 10, and works nicely with ActivClient (which it should since both are by HID Global). I've actually had more problems with the built-in reader on my laptop than I have with this reader. As an added bonus, if you've ever taken the DoD Cyber Awareness Challenge, this closely resembles the CAC reader used in that horrible training. ... show more
