26" is a good, comfortable hight for standard kitchen islands. The stools are well built for the price. They are very comfortable too. But, and that's the only reason I didn't give five stars, the plastic 'feet' at the base of the stools are very small (very hard to keep felt protectors on them), so if you have hard wood floors, you will end up scratching your floors eventually. These chairs are so comfortable, sturdy, and stylish. I love the quality. The only problem is the stitching on one of the chairs is messed up (photos attached). I definitely recommend!
