  • Parts are great and parts are overkill
The first part of the book clearly and extensively explains bacteria, how they work, how they learn how to become resistant and why they have. This underlying knowledge is a really great foundation to understanding how other types of antibiotic and antimicrobial agents, specifically from plants, lichens, etc. continue to be effective where pharmaceutical antibiotics may not be. When it comes to the specific treatments and dosages, an inexperienced lay person or armchair herbalist who thinks they are an herbalist but isn't, is going to be massively overwhelmed and potentially hurt themselves or someone else. Plus these recipes for treatment are long and complicated. It could easily make the reader believe that if they don't or can't follow these protocols, their treatment of a bacterial illness or infection will be ineffectual. This is not true. There are many ways to treat MRSA, for example, and if the treatment protocols in the book can't be done by the reader, my advice is to do more research into antibiotic plants medicines because there are numerous simpler protocols to treat MRSA other than how this book recommends. That said, if you are interested in using antibiotic and healing plant medicines, you'll learn a lot from this book. ... show more

  • Absolutely essential to anyone who likes being alive....
You MUST own this book if you care about your own life - and/or if you have any loved ones, or family at all that you care about. Further - If you have a health professional, a hospital administrator, or a health policy maker in your circles - you should also plead with them to read this book..... in the hopes that a grass-roots effort can somehow begin to shift the paradigm of the (now totally lost) war on infectious disease. Just yesterday (May 9th) - A top news outfit had a headline which linked to a story about a new resistant strain of Gonorhea in Hawaii that is TOTALLY RESISTANT TO ALL ANTI-BIOTICS, but even more sad was the article's discussion of how Government officials may intervene requiring pharmacuetical companies to develop a new anti-biotic to deal with this most recent issue. We all know by now that the definition of insanity: is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results - obviously no one involved with this news story has ever heard of Stephen Buhner. The data showing the population rates of common infections now becoming resistant infections have rounded the corner and are now plotted vertical upwards for many bacteria, and with new ones joininng these ranks everyday (stories like the above issue in Hawaii are more and more - at least once a week now). While this might sound alarmist - it's actually all very very it's true, notat all alarmist and totally grounded reality. We are arriving at the point where no one's circles will go untouched by a resistant infection, whether it be yourself, a family member or a close friend, or a despised but dedicated co-worker (cough, cough, sneeze). And on that contageous note - as equally important, be sure to keep a close watch for this book's soon to be released companion title "Herbal Anti-Virals". This book is such a timely gift from Stephen to all of humanity - arriving while we helplessly teeter on the razors edge of a very dangerous vertical cliff with regard to a mass casuality event for which the Western Medicine paradigm will be totally useless. This book is equally relevant for a protecting yourself from the inevitable deadly regional or even worldwide massive uncontrollable resitant bacterial outbreak - or if you've just recently aquired a paper-cut at work last Tuesday and you want to be careful. If that paper cut starts looking a little red, and continues to grow more and more don't ignore it and hope that it just goes away - and if it worsens and you end up having to go to the Emergency Room - that paper cut might also very quickly become your secondary concern. No...don't go to the hospital if you can avoid it - the resistant infections you'll be exposed to there, and which you might acquire there can have you in intensive care and on life support just 72 hours later. But what's even more scary now is the fact that these deadly resistance bacteria once largly confined to hospitals are now more and more commonly being aquired outside of hospital environments. They've taken to the streets, and yes - they are even in thar building where you work, where you initially got that bothersome paper-cut lastTuesday, that you at first thought was nothing. The Western medical establishment truly does not know what to do but Stephen Buhner does - and with elegance, and plentiful clinical and scientific references to support the information he's provided in this book. This book is so good and so essential and so tremendously well researched and referenced and just loaded with details - that it very easily could end up saving your life, while the Hospital staff tells you that they've tried everything, and now doesn't know what to do. It is something that is necessary because of the horrible miscalulation and errors of a totally wrong-minded model within the structure of conventional western medicine. A wrong paradigm born out of reductionist logic and an abundence of arrogance towards the inate intelligence of the survival mechanisms that exist within nature. I dare say - that a considerable cross-section of the earth's human population - as a species really almost doesn't deserve to be able to own this book for what been allowed to be duped by arrogant western medicine paradigms, and for allowing it to still conitinue down the same road, albeit with ample warning. No matter the sum Stephen ever realizes financially in return for having authored this book (even if it's in the billions - which I personally think he deserves) - this book will still forever and permanently remain generous to the human race on Stephen's behalf. Buy the book - it very well could save your life or the life of a loved one - especially in the case of an infection for which the hospital staff has said "I'm sorry we've tried everything, there's nothing else we can do". Yes, Buy the book. ... show more

  • EVERY HOUSE NEEDS THIS BOOK
Well, I kind of have a long story but I’ll try to make it short. I have had 20 surgeries on my right knee involving many replacements the last one being in 2016. Fast forward to August, 2022 I came down with a staff infection in the knee replacement and got extremely sick, the pain was unbelievable worst pain I have ever experienced . It nearly took my life. I was medevac’d to a well known specialty hospital for emergency surgery. Fast forward six months later when the doctor took me off antibiotics within a week the infection came back so I had to go back on antibiotics and I guess we all know what being on heavy duty antibiotics can do to the body, they actually make infections morph into a strain that is resistant to antibiotics. I knew that I needed to do some thing about it. I have Dr B’s book on antivirals and I love it so I got the anabiotic book also. I have been taking the tinctures suggested by Dr. B which is licorice root, Rishi, and most importantly Cryptolepis . I healed myself. No emergency room let’s take your knee out now cuz that’s what they do with stage two prosthetic infection!!!! BUY THIS BOOK IT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE. I was only on the antibiotics for about 4 weeks with the tinctures but went completely off the antibiotics again and have just been on the tinctures; it’s been a month now and my knee is doing great. I get the tinctures from Woodland essence. They are one of the only herbal venues that has true Cryptolepis. Herbamama also has it. Please buy this book, buy all of his books he is FANTASTIC…!!!!! SAVED MY LEG PEOPLE!!!! ... show more

  • Not organized by disease, but by plant
This book is a profound treasure trove of knowledge that I imagine I will use for the rest of my life. We are all blessed that this author has shared his wisdom. HOWEVER! It was written 100% from the author's perspective and not at all with the end user in mind. As someone interested in naturally healing my family's ailments, when someone gets sick, I imagined I could pick up this book, look for the disease/issue we were dealing with and use said remedy. But the book is actually laid out by the plant/remedy. This makes absolutely zero sense, as most of us have never even heard of most of these plants! We are not going to be searching for plants. The only way to actually find what you're looking for is to look in the index and go to all the separate locations in the book where a specific disease is mentioned and hope to find your remedy that way. Still useful, just clunky. ... show more

This book is okay. U can definitely get some good info with this book. BUT it’s too much unnecessary information and doesn’t get to the point.

Dry read. Too technical. Uses plants not readily available in the midwest. I have two other books that are better. It will be OK but a looong read.

  • Comprehensive modality for most well known bacteria
This is a good book. I wonder about the authors credentials though. IT does not list a PhD or something that one might feel a bit more credibility towards.

  • A whole other world of medicine is right in our backyard
Herbal antibiotics should be a mind-blowing book to any Western medical practitioner. It reveals an entire world of antibiotics that are readily available from the natural world. On top of this, these antibiotics are very effective against the very organisms that pharmaceutical antibiotics have trouble with, so says Stephen Buhner, the book's author. The book explains how antibiotic resistance came about and where it's heading (getting worse if you can't guess that) and how natural antibiotics are part of the solution. It explores a holistic approach to treating infection that involves not only knocking out the infective organisms, but also supporting the immune system (and a patient's emotional/spiritual comportment) as part of the healing process. It offers specific treatment guidelines for several antibiotic-resistant infections and it covers quite a number of particular herbs in depth, exploring not only their history including their use in traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and Western herbal practice but what science has discovered about them. This last part is the most interesting because it demonstrates that while the author has a beef with western medical practice and with the biases of science research in America, he believes strongly in the scientific method. While the book is eye opening to say the least, there are a few shortcomings. First, some of infections covered are usually so serious that they require hospitalization. The question of how does one get to be treated with these herbs in a modern American hospital is not addressed. Similarly, if you are someone without health insurance, how are you going to know which bacteria you have in order to select the most appropriate protocol? Third, it's not clear how the author came up with the specific protocols for treating individual infections. Most of the research he refers to covers a specific herb for specific infection (which, in fact, is one of the shortcomings of Western medical practice that he exposes). Finally, the author seems to be suggesting that unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, herbal ones don't negatively alter the gut microflora, but how that could be the case isn't 100% clear. ... show more

  • Not for the preppers
This is a good book for what it does, but narrowly focused. For instance, it has no listing for oregano. It doesn't review very many herbs, and many of those are only available through overseas herb suppliers. If I can't grow or find the herb, it is of little use for me. If you are looking for a book for TEOTWAWKI, this isn't it. ... show more

  • love books by Stephen Buhner
buy this and the antiviral book, you can't go wrong. The herbs in the books can be found at Elk Mountain Herbs and Sage Woman. I originally found out about Stephen Buhner when I contracted Lyme disease. After antibiotics did nothing much to help, I turned to homeopathic remedies and I wanted something else, that would work faster. So, my homeopathic practitioner told me to get Healing Lyme by Stephen Buhner. Within a few days after receiving the book I read it and bought the herbs and started the herbs along with the GAPS diet and felt so much better just a few days in (even while I was herxing) I stayed on the protocol for a year and felt really good. I ended up just doing GAPS intro and easing into Paleo. Then Paleo AIP, Low FODMAPS. After I came off the lyme protocol, I had some dental work done and I started showing signs for Bartonella. So I bought the Healing Co -infections book from Stephen and that was amazing. I stayed on that for a year. Now I take herbs for maintenance. I am not sure I will ever not be on some herbs, but I am ok with that, because I feel so good. I went from wanting to sleep all day, crawling up the stairs in my house, being too anxiety ridden to drive( and I have always loved to drive) to now being able to what ever I want to do, and that is pretty good! I love herbs!!! ... show more
