Many reviewers are complaining that this tarp is not waterproof, but it is NOT advertised as waterproof. The description says water-resistant. These two terms are NOT the same. I was hoping it would be waterproof, but it's not. After an initial test, I thought it was waterproof. I made a depression and it held water for quite a while until I emptied it. After I went to quite a bit of trouble to situate the canvas horizontally where I wanted it, and tested it by spraying with a hose attachment, MOST water ran off the tarp, but some soaked through here and there. I've ordered some waterproofing spray for canvas. This is a good canvas tarp, very well made. Expensive, but worth it, IMO. ... show more

I’ve bought 3 of these. I’ve had one over my grill area for 5 years that has held up perfectly through Colorado hail storms, very hot direct sun in the summer and snow in winter. It has maintained its original state beautifully. I will never buy another tarp brand again. Highly recommended.

Do not buy this product. I purchased 2 large tarps over $500 expecting a heavy duty, waterproof, and durable tarp. I covered a boat trailer stored outdoors (not the boat) for 7 months.. The tarp is coming apart and is basically worthless. I will have to throw in the dumpster since it is disintegrating. The only thing I can see is accurate in the description is it is heavy. I complained to the company Chicago Canvas about my experience hoping to get at least a partial refund and got little help. Basically an offer to buy another of their tarps at 15% discount. Apparently their if not warranty on this product as you might expect for a heavy duty durable tarp as advertised. I would recommend to not purchase this tarp and personally I will never buy another product from Chicago Canvas since they don’t seem to advertise accurately, warrant products they sell, or try to resolve product disputes with obvious issues. You would think if a customer buys a product and it falls apart in less than 7 months the company would be very concerned about quality issues related and help the customer resolve an obvious issue. That was not my experience and I basically threw $500 in the dumpster. ... show more

this is what i got after 24 hours put up as a wind break on my shop shed roof. i bought this to reduce the wind and cold from an area behind my shop. in 24hrs i have 2 eyelets already tearing out. for the cost and what looks to be a great tarp this is not at all what i expected. this will never last 1 winter in the KS winter. now after about a month being up the seams are coming un-sown and more eyelets are tearing out. not at all what i expected. and its securely fastened down. 11/3/23- even though i had issues on what i ordered, i worked with their customer service. i have found out that for what i am using this tarp for was not the correct type. they provided samples and worked very well with me to get the correct tarp for my application. I would highly recommend this company to deal with. I would definitely buy from them again. ... show more
