I have 8'x10' tarp that is 10mil thick that I purchased years ago when I needed to covered my shed when replacing some of the old shingles on the roof. Tarps come in very handy in many ways, especially during emergency water leaking time. It's also good for covering firewood, soils, or even as under mat for tent when camping so that precipitation from ground does not sip through the tent floor. I bought this tarp because I wanted to have a spare tarp that is a big bigger as this is 10'x12' in size but I didn't realize how thick this 16mil tarp was compared to my 10mil tarp. Very thick and heavy duty indeed. I got to use it during our family camping in our backyard over the weekend and we placed this under our tent. Next morning, the bottom of the tarp was all wet but the top was completely dry. This is some serious heavy duty tarp that is super thick and water proof that might come in very handy during emergency or when you need to cover something outside or during camping. The metal grommets all around the tarp makes it easy to put this over anything outside then tie it down using a rope and a stake. Highly recommend it this tarp. 5 out of 5 stars. ... show more

This tarp is very well made - it will last for years. The extra support at the corner grommets allow this tarp to use bungee cords to attach it for secure tie downs for coverage of large items. I will use it to cover my wood pile this winter as it is waterproof, large enough with no concerns of leaking. I usually purchase 10 mil tarps but this one at 16 mil is much more durable and better made to provide peace of mind when using. I can see this being laid on the ground under my tent when going camping or it could be used as a rain fly above the tent for shade and protection from the elements. It’s more like a thicker version of the cheap plasticity tarps that you can get anywhere. I wanted a soft vinyl tarp. Like from Chicago Canvas (made in USA). Live and learn. This tarp is great. I’ve been using it to protect the yard underneath my kids inflatable pool. I used to use a light duty tarp but it eventually ripped. This one has held up quite well. The reinforcements around the eyelets have held up well against lateral force when staked into the ground too, which is reassuring.
