I love that this heat gun has two operable settings for low and high heat but also a dial that kicks it up or down for both settings. I needed a heat gun that could bend PVC pipe for a project I'm working on. I have been using the second setting at medium range on the dial and it's still putting out a good amount of heat. I'm happy to know it can dish out more if I need it to. The low setting can get as cool (or cooler) than a hair dryer if you want it to so it is very versatile. The gun itself is made very well and doesn't feel cheap, it handles nicely too. When I first plugged it up and was playing around with the settings I let it warm up slowly before kicking it into high gear, cause after waiting desperately for this thing to get here I didn't want to burn it out. Not saying it would but I've read a ton of reviews on cheaper heat guns on Amazon and the number one problem is they either don't get hot enough or they burn out. I've only been using it for 3 days so far and I'm happy it's going well. Of course there is a new but very faint plastic smell when you first turn it on, no different than when you buy a new hairdryer and use it the first time- nothing serious or hazardous. The range on this thing and flow can be altered by the given other 3 metal attachments that came with it. It also came with a bag of different sized heat shrink tubes, some plastic shrink film? and a paint scraper of great quality! I really like the handle on that thing. This thing works perfectly, and will want you to make arts and crafts and other modifications with some thermal plastic, or otherwise known as moldable plastic. Overall this worked really well for my speaker wire project. Had to run a bunch of wire with heat shrink wraps through this while it was in the standing position (heat facing the ceiling). The heat settings and the attachment worked amazing. But it's not very sturdy in the standing position, one bump and it falls over. While running that's not good. But you can prop it up between something and works well otherwise. Plus it comes with a lot of extras which was nice. Worth the value! ... show more

I originally bought this for craft projects but a frozen icemaker called it into duty for its initial use. As a typical man, I didn't read the instructions. I simply took it out of the box and started trying to melt the iceberg that had clogged up the icemaker. I was a bit upset that this large gun wasn't getting very hot at all. Maybe 20 minutes in, I realized there was an adjustment wheel right above the trigger which intensified the heat output. Ugh! After I cranked it up, it made lightwork of all of the ice (and maybe warped some of the plastic too). Anyway, before any of you fellow men return this for not working properly....adjust the daggone heat wheel. It works pretty well. It's a keeper. Now my wife thinks I'm a keeper too because her drinks have cold ice in them again. ... show more
