  • Backyard Upgrade (installation review)
Size: 100'
Totally worth the effort it took to get this thing installed. Installing it definitely took 2 people. We were a husband/wife duo, but quite frankly it might have gone better with a second person who is stronger and taller than me. Getting it pulled tight while installing the u-nut things was tedious and aggravating, but worth it in the end. Took us a couple hours total. Getting those u-nuts screwed on super tight is a pain in the rear. You need a small wrench and it’s aggravating doing a half turn at a time. Others may have better solutions for this. Our distance is 65 feet. It’s pretty long for the 4-6 yr olds who will be the main users of the zip line. We bought the 100 foot line and secured the excess line so that we can extend it when the kids are older. We ended up leaving a bit of slack in the line to slow it down for the kids. A tight line for 65 ft was a bit too zippy. The rubber stopper break is advised to be at least 5 feet from the bottom tree. We’re moving it closer to 8 feet away. When a kid hits the break, momentum swings them into that tree. For the age we’ve got, an adult at the end of the line is a good idea to catch them in case they let go. We’re thinking of adding a crash pad for the end on days when it’s getting heavy use. Also, when the kid gets off the swing seat, it has a tendency to pop up. So far no major face bonks, but the potential to get popped in the nose is there. Again - adult assistance is needed for this age group. The kids are having an absolute blast! The entire neighborhood was over zipping and so many laughs all around. ... show more

  • Not 4 hilly yard, need extra supplies
Size: 100'
This would NOT have been a quick easy install even if our yard was level (maybe for a handy man it would be). We spent a whole weekend putting it up and taking it down repeatedly, calculating and recalculating. We have a sloped back yard so if the line had enough slack to safely slow down the rider before the end, they would also drag on the ground (through a pile of dog poop). If the line had enough tension to keep the rider off the ground, the rider slid too fast and came to a hard, dangerous, flinging stop at the rubber stopper. If we moved the line high enough to have a safe amount of slack and keep the rider off the ground, the rider would be one foot off the ground at some points and 16 feet off the ground at other points. Being this is supposed to be for kids and it DOESN’T have a safety harness, my husband and I weren’t ok with that either. We ended up (in a frustrating final final attempt) making the end of the ride much much much higher than the beginning of the ride. We then added pool noodle pieces before the rubber stopper to create a softer stop. And we added a pool noodle piece to the rope where your crotch sits because that disk seat is super small and I have rope burns in areas I never thought I would. We also ended up purchasing another ladder because it’s not a one person OR one ladder job. We also purchased a rope crank because pulling 100 feet of tension, holding it, and clipping it in place at the same time was just ridiculously hard. That meant we had to go to Menards. I hate that store. In short: need more tools and a flat yard. ... show more

  • We love it but put it up was tough
Size: 80'
This was way harder to install than I imagined but great fun once you get over that part! I thought I could install it by myself but even with my husband's help we really struggled for hours to install it.

  • The kids love this!
Size: 150'
The four kids, ages 5 & 6, love riding this! We did not use the seat that came with it. We have the kids riding it by hanging onto the handles. They are never more than 4 feet above the lawn. We installed it with one end looped on a large oak tree trunk and the other on a post set in concrete and also anchored with an ecology block. The line has stretched as they've used it and we've needed to tighten it twice. I highly recommend having a come-along to tighten the wire. Great product! ... show more

  • Grand kids love it
Size: 150'
This was easy to install. I did purchase a come a long wench to tighten the line. I ran the line from a tree with a 4 foot diameter down to another three with about a one foot diameter. I used the two 8' x 2" X 4" s to protect the larger tree. By placing a hook screw at the top end of the 2" x 4" s, I could slide the cable higher up the tree without getting on a ladder. The other end I used the hanging hardware ( a cable with a rubber sleeve ) then a come-along-wench to the the zip line. This accomplished two things. First the brake was farther from the tree. Second, I could tighten the zip line by myself. I found this way when the kids are riding it, I loosened the cable so they bottom out about 20 feet from the tree and then rise on the way to the end. This slows them down before they hit the brake. Then I can tighten it for adults. That makes for a faster trip ... show more

  • Difficult to Install
Size: 150'
First the good. All the pieces were there. The instructions were clear. The problems (below) are probably common to all similar products, not just this model. Now the bad. Three adults spent several hours trying to install the zip line last summer. With anything close to a 150 foot run, the sag in the middle is significant, so you either need to launch from an unsafe height, or you need to get a level of tension on the line that is FAR greater than anything we could achieve. After several hours of work the best we could do is a line that sagged into the dirt mid-run. Our daughter was left disappointed on her birthday, and all of the adults were extremely frustrated. If you want to buy a zip line for a kid, this one still seems like a reasonable choice, but plan to spend a significant amount of time, and if possible put it up when your kid isn’t around so that they won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work. Our spent a year in the woods as a reminder of “the birthday present that wasn’t” before migrating to the trash. ... show more

  • Also buy spring brake and come along.
Size: 150'
Only reason this isn’t 5 stars is that you really need to buy three spring brakes for safely stopping and a come along to set it up. My 11 year old is on year 2 of fun with it.
