Description

The Acumen RCK-K fire place remote control provides remote operation of a gas heating fireplace with the simple click of a button. The remote control transmitter operates on (3) 1.5V AAA batteries and functions using six distinct buttons (On-Off/Auto On-Off/Clock/Timer/Up/Down) system that transmits a signal to the battery powered receiver. The receiver operates on (4) AA batteries and will rest inside your fireplace, while the two lead wires will connect to the TH & TH/TP terminals on the millivolt valve.     • Easy to install, works great
My millivolt gas fireplace only had a manual switch mounted in the wall. When the room gets nice and warm, who wants to get up to shut it off? Answer: no one. The receiver fit perfectly in the existing box. I had it installed and working in about 15 minutes. 4 stars on the remote. It's nice with the time, room temp and set temp on it. But the buttons for Auto and Manual are just weird. It's 2 buttons in a circle, with the top left being smaller for manual and bottom right for auto. 2 separate buttons would be better so you don't accidentally select auto instead of manual or vise versa. I don't want my fireplace coming on when I'm not home (though the cats wouldn't mind). ... show more

    • Works perfectly
I used this to replace another one that the remote stopped working. Was very easy to replace. The only trouble I had was it said you could change the settings of the dip switches inside. When I did that the remote would not work. Followed the directions to reset the remote even removed the batteries and it would not work! So I set them back the way they were and it works fine. I was surprised by this item! It was easy to install and worked right the first time and ever since. I've had it a couple of months now. Like it says in the info, it will be w/in +-3 degrees of actual room temperature. I find mine is off around 1.5 degrees less. The remote is easy to program. It works laying around on a table about 15' from the fireplace. I definitely recommend it. ... show more

    • This is battery receiver model (Plug in model available if prefer.
purchased to replace an old unit. Did not realize this was a battery unit. This model is a thermostat control, which is great. (Some models are only on/off with automatic 6 hour off.) Battery model is more difficult to get the remote to sync to the battery receiver. Takes patience to sync, but then okay until batteries need replacing - keep sync instructions nearby. I have one of each model for upstairs and downstairs. ... show more

I'm impressed the remote works as the thermostat. It was accurate and turned on the fireplace with no problem. There was a small delay in manual mode but that's no big deal.

    • One of the remotes did not work when received
I hope this will get to the vendor. The hand held remote for one of the units did not work when I installed the unit. Unfortunately, I did not get to install the unit during the return period. I manage a property with several gas fire places with remote controls. The receiving units are well made and the metal insulated housings should make them work for a long time. the hand held remote unit from one of the boxes did not work although the receiving unit worked and the fireplace came on when placed in the on position. However, in the remote position nothing happened. I removed the handheld remote from the other box and it worked well. The first remote must have been defective. I hope the vendor will replace that remote! ... show more

    • Good Product...if you are comfortable with a three degree temp difference in your rooms
The Fireplace thermostat was just what I needed, having the fireplace turn on and off by temperature was great. It gave good savings on my electric bill. It was easy to in stall. The directions were easy to follow. The temp shutoff and turn on on the remote was off by three degrees, this made my rooms very warm then very cool...This was the only issue I had, but it was enough to make me look for another remote with a smaller on off range..Other than that this was a very good product... ... show more
