Well... first of all it said nothing about the filter installed, that was sealed inside, was wrapped in a plastic bag. Glad I noticed it before I plugged it in. Might have burned it up or started a fire. The instructions say a blocked filter could start a fire. So taking it apart, to get the plastic bag off the filter, getting the outside filter door back on was very difficult. After resetting the filter several times, and pushing down on it very hard, I finally got the filter replacement door back on. Only had it a half hour so I have no idea if it actually works well. It seems to be working well. Makes a fair amount of noise. Kinda sounds like a box fan set on high. While I can certainly hear it, the noise is acceptable and not super annoying. But you will hear it (Sorta to be expected I suppose). The wife wanted this.... not my call.... but I suspect in the future finding a filter for this will probably be a task, if possible at all. The filter is in no way universal or generic. I'm in the 3 1/2 star range with this. "Assembled in CHINA". Edit: I bumped this up to 4 stars. After using it a few days I've gotten use to it. I like how you can set it to come on automatically when it senses... whatever. Reached out to customer support who was very responsive. Another plus. ... show more

    • Where did the dust go? This is my second HE1500 within 3 weeks.

This is amazing, I gave the first one a try out. What a difference. The furniture in the master bedroom would get dusty from the AC I'm guessing. My amour, which is close to a duct, would turn whiteish with dust on top in 1 week of dusting. Couldn't believe the dust in the carpet. So far so good. Will be vacuuming the carpet again to see what it looks like. This has been a problem since the house was new 1999. There are 3 returns in the ceilings with filters. They are changed every 2 months. They are not caked up. I've been trying for ever to find the problem. So, I have 2800 SQFT on the ground floor. Hoping with the second one I'm covered for 3000 SQFT. ... show more

I have really bad allergy induced asthma. So to be very honest, just about anything will put me into an asthma attack. I ordered this air purifier in September and I love it!! However, the real test came when I needed to light the gas fireplace to let all of the dust burn off before we actually need it. We never use our gas fireplace but I get it started at least at the beginning of fall so if the power goes out, we will still have a heat source. Doing this always puts me into an asthma attack, makes my throat hurt and I completely loose my voice for days and sometimes weeks. Ugh!! Well we are supposed to be getting cold weather so we started the gas fireplace. I smelled a little of the gas at first but that was it!! My son and I were shocked and the only explanation was the air purifier!! I'm ordering one exactly like it for upstairs too to go in our bonus room with the other gas fireplace.
