I’ve really enjoyed the Hatch Restore 3 since making the switch from relying on my iphone to this device for both falling asleep and waking up. It has changed my nightly routine, making it easier to unwind and sleep. My favorite features is the variety of rain and storm sounds. Living in New Mexico, where rain is rare and cherished, these sounds bring a sense of calm and comfort . You can even choose from light rain to heavy rain, with the low rumble of distant thunder. It feels so natural—I love it. The device itself is not only functional but also attractive. It’s been hard finding a clock that’s not too bright or clunky, but the Hatch Restore 3 is great. Its design is sleek and modern, and the light settings for dimming are handy when I don’t feel like seeing the time . The quality and variety of the content Hatch has is awesome. The media could not be loaded. Don’t let the subscription deter you, this alarm clock is completely usable without it. The monthly subscription is mainly for more sounds and bedtime stories, plus 2 added steps to your sleep/wake routine which are ‘Unwind’ and ‘Morning Moment’. I’d suggest setting up some routines while on the free version, to get the feel of it first; then get the free trial and immediately cancel, so you don’t get charged but can try it out for a month. If you realize that you like the subscription version more than the free: the monthly price is $5 totaling to $60 a year, and the yearly subscription is $50. I can naturally wake up to the morning sun, but have to get up for work before the sun comes out so I opted for a sunrise clock due to phone alarm issues. Hatch claims this alarm is science-backed in lulling you to sleep but also waking you up gradually and peacefully. I can for sure say this was the first morning I have not woken up to a jarringly loud alarm then jumping out of bed after realizing I snoozed all 10 of my alarms. The sunrise feature is super customizable, you can have the dim clock go super bright within 5 minutes or up to an hour. There’s 12 sunrises and 13 alarm sounds to choose from without a subscription. There’s also 28 different sleep sounds for free! I chose brown noise since it’s a more gentle sound than white noise and it definitely helped me stay asleep the entire night, whereas before; I’d wake up numerous times every night then feel super tired/groggy until mid afternoon. The biggest issue for this clock is that it relies on a constant and good WiFi connection. If you live in a small town like me where if one cell tower goes down, you’re stuck without WiFi and no alarm clock. I got the Putty color option, it’s definitely a lighter tan with a hint of pink. The video I included shows the Brown Noise sleep sound and the light color Evening Sun. There are instructions that come with the clock that tell you where to touch for adjusting the volume and light, how the two Rest/Rise buttons at the top work, and how to set up the clock within the app. It took about 10 minutes for my clock to connect and register to the app, so don’t be worried if it takes awhile for you. Upon opening this alarm clock, I’d recommend placing the box upright and pulling the top of the box off, so the clock stays in the bottom of the box and doesn’t fly out (like iPhone boxes). Not only is this an aesthetic clock, but it’s also a sound machine, an alarm, and a curated sunrise. The ability to have a different alarm schedule is a huge bonus as well, especially if you have a differing morning routine depending on the day.
