This is a very satisfactory tent that's well thought through. Like most tents, it can technically fit the number of people it's rated for (6) as long as they're very close friends and don't really need anything else in the tent other than themselves. Realistically, it would work much more comfortably for a couple plus a small child or two, leaving room for suitcases and such. Unlike many tents, it's designed in such a way that the side walls are very nearly vertical to almost 6 feet. Therefore, if you are tall, you can probably walk all around inside the tent without really stooping over, very nice! I've been in too many 6-foot tents that, yes, technically had one spot smack in the middle that reaches that height, but the rest is much less so it wasn't very comfortable for me. This one is much better. The fabric of the tent seems somewhat thin, but I know materials technology has improved greatly over the years and it doesn't seem noticeably thinner than other new tents from name brands, so I have no obvious reason to feel that it won't last as long as other tents. Similarly, the zippers are plastic not metal, but that's how all tents are nowadays. One noteworthy features is that the entire top of the tent is mesh, excellent for ventilation and night-sky visibility. There's a rainfly that completely covers this so you won't get wet in bad weather, while still allowing some ventilation from crosswinds. The fly does not cover the side windows, so if it's raining you'll want to zip them up to keep the inside dry. All aspects of the design use the best standard modern technology - multi-part poles with internal bungees so they can't get mixed up, color-coded pole sleeves, velcro straps where appropriate, etc. The set comes with everything you'll need, including anchor lines, except that you'll want to provide your own perimeter stakes to hold down the tent itself. It all fits into a standard zipper case made from plasticized fabric so you won't lose anything when not in use. It's not too heavy for one person to carry, and unlike many large tents, it is possible for one person to set it up entirely on their own, as I did - of course having a helper makes it easier and faster, but it's not required. I see other reviewers concerned about the price. At the moment it's listed as 120, apparently it was previously more expensive. Given the size and apparent solid quality, I'd consider it to be a good value. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The good stuff: I'm coming from a vintage 1970's era tent of similar size. That tent lasted 50+ years and still works, but it's kind of stinky, and it's extremely large and heavy to transport. Like, so heavy and bulky that I have given up on it. This modern tent is the opposite. It packs into an incredibly small and lightweight bag (though it was not easy to get it all back in, and it is lopsided, like impossible to pack back up perfectly). The old tent was also a nightmare to set up, and I could only do it by carefully studying a picture of it assembled from the previous time I used it. It would take me 30 minutes easy, and that's if I had done it recently and remembered every step. This new tent is the opposite. I glanced at the instructions for a couple seconds and then erected the whole thing in five minutes. The rain guard took me much longer, but that's because I was doing it the wrong way. Note that it is not square, and you must have the logo facing one of the sides, NOT the door side or backside. Then, it's pretty easy too, but it doesn't sit on there very well. I think the rain guard is the worst part of it, and seems like an engineering afterthought compared to the well-designed main tent. It does work okay though, once set up. The tent sets up so easily, and has color coded poles and tent holes so it's just really intuitive. The okay stuff: It's spacious, and comfortable, and the zippers and everything are clever and placed well throughout. It has a little cargo hammock for the top, places to hang things, pockets, etc. It's probably a light duty tent though, which is okay. I wouldn't use this in any potentially bad weather. It says 35 mph wind, and I think that's accurate. Above that and I think it would just kind of blow away. It doesn't feel strong and heavy like my old tent. I wouldn't trust it in heavy rain either, as the rain guard just barely covers to the edges of the roof. But, if you're planning a couple nights on a nice weekend, it should be fine. The bad: It's not really 10x9x79". It's about 9'1" by 8'10", so that's really bad that they say it's bigger than it is. It's about 76" high in the middle, and is just not as massive as the ad makes it seem. And this is not going to last 50 years like my vintage tent. This is very thin material, and any sharp object would probably quickly cut it and start a growing tear that could never be sewn back together. The craftsmanship is okay, but I already can see a part of the upper screen that is not quite right (took a picture). If you're a serious camper, get something better, like a high grade tent. If you're like me and you want a lightweight setup to take your family on a couple weekends in the summer in nice weather, then this will do. ... show more

Reviewing Happy Travel Tent 6 Person Tent, This is a good, basic, family tent. It has no bells or whistles, but it is tall, so you can mostly stand up inside *unless your 6’ or over, and it has plenty of room inside. If you truly want to fit 6 people inside, you will not have room for bags and shoes, etc. The rainfly is a little small, so it doesn’t adequately prevent rain from coming in the side windows, but you can zip them closed, which does prevent rain from coming in. The rainfly can be removed also which allows for excellent ventilation through all the mesh on top and the side windows. No waterproofing was needed after setting it up. It came adequately waterproofed from the factory. Since it’s a basic tent, I feel the price of $170 is steep, but with the coupon, $150 or under is a good deal. ... show more
