I really like this suitcase, but within 7 months one of the zippers broke off and then a month later the second came off of one of the zipper lines. It is unusable. I reached out to the manufacturer to see if we could work something out, but no response. Therefore here is my review, unfortunately bad. On one of my trips, when I recovered my luggage from the carousel, the zipper lock was jammed. I managed to get the zipper undone, but the lock was permanently damaged. I reached out to the company by email to see if I could purchase a replacement lock but never heard back in over 3 months. I wasn't asking them to replace anything for free, just wondering if there was a way for me to purchase replacement parts... either through them or even another vendor. I bought the off white and light blue for my partner. Really wanted to break free of the black luggage motif. They were incredibly lightweight, the wheels never faltered and the non-clamshell design were all appreciated. The capacity was impressive! They were easy to spot on the belt, very classy looking and aside from a little dirt that was easy to wipe off with a damn rag, not a scratch was on them. Very happy! ... show more

I really like the rollability of this one. Plus the top-opening is a let easier in the hotel than the clamshell. Lots of space and good quality overall. One star off because the lock broke on the first trip.

    • LOVE the way it opens. So much better than a typical split hardside bag.
I really like this suitcase so far. I bought the 24" and 26" bags. The 24" was a bit too small for me so I returned it and got the 26". I travel by air about 24 times a year, usually on week long trips. I'm a mechanic so I pack some small tools when I travel. The front opening feature is absolutely the best. The bag rolls effortlessly through airports. The handle has a pushbutton release that does not stick out of the molded handle (You need this feature for air travel, trust me. If it protrudes, the handle button gets pushed when they throw the bags around. This unlocks the handle and it extends in the handlers cart and gets bent). With the front opening feature there is no more having to lay the suitcase out completely to find your things. You can use it just like you would use a soft-side in a hotel room. Even though it does not expand, the front panel is a bit pliable so you can "stuff" it with souvenirs or things of the like. It is not as forgiving as a soft-side but I have had no issues with it. So far I love this thing. I have had all types of bags and prefer a soft-side but wanted something that was more durable. Soft-sides get ripped up pretty quickly with air travel and the ones made today are getting really cheap. They call it "featherweight" technology to save weight, when in reality they are just made of cheaper materials. They don't hold up. The Hanke suitcase is a bit heavy though. The 26" bag is just over 10lbs unloaded, so be aware of that as 50lbs is max on most domestic flights. This thing is built very well and seems like I will have it a good while. ... show more

The bag is great reviews and I really wanted to like it. It is light, easy to maneuver, the opening is fantastic. However, after one use both zippers broke. One came off the rails so it won’t close and the other one the the end of it snapped. It was a gift to my husband and he only used it once. For the price and reputation of good quality this should not have happened. I’m unable to return it because I bought it in December and he just returned from his trip. The window for returns is closed and there is no way of contacting the manufacturer. I tried taking it to fix in town but nobody does the job. Very disappointing. ... show more

I am a frequent biz traveler and have looked for a hard case of this design for quite a while. I was DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED when the zippers broke on only the second use. The bags came out of the luggage carousel and had both been sheered right off. (See photos). The bags showed no abuse in any other way, but the zipper pulls and head had just “snapped off” from metal fatigue at seemingly the first bump to them. The bag is now unusable.
