  • SMALL job, light steel
Well, to my surprise, it actually did put out 250A. Using 1/8 and 5/32 rods the arc was refreshingly strong and easy to maintain. For light duty, this beats hauling around full size gear..... But.... Holding the whole unit in your hand makes delivering a good weld tough. No, unless you're welding sheet metal, you can't weld like in the videos. Trying to weld on heavier material failed to get required penetration. 5/32 is about the heaviest rod it will take. The unit blew a breaker on a 15A circuit, had to wait until it cooled off to try again. Overall, if you only have 110 somewhere and have to do some small repair, sure it'll do that well enough. But to finish the test weld we started, we went back to the Lincoln tombstone to knock it out. ... show more

  • Portable Welder
Very easy to use, super portable, and performed better than expected. Great value for the money perfect gift for someone that likes to tinker or do small jobs. Welded great but for small jobs and thinner sheet metal nothing major but works great. Very cool tool to have in any tinkers garage.

  • Good for what it can do.
I'm a hobby welder. Well a weld when I have to be a welder. If I can get my stick rig to cooperate, I can get enough metal to hold. I would put this on spot welds and fit-up welds. Still pretty neat and easy to use. Does get warm pretty quickly. I would drop an electrode size overall.

  • Works well for small projects. Fairly easy to use.
I have used this to fix some metal cages. It worked well on welding the small bars back into place. You are in fairly close proximity to any sparks with this tool. It heated up fairly quickly. I used it for about 10 minutes at a time. It began to feel warm through my heavy gloves. I tend to be a little over cautious at times. I would rather take breaks and not need to deal with a problem. It was fairly easy to understand how to use. I am a beginner with welding. There is most likely a lot I’m being over cautious about that is perfectly normal. Overall I was able to repair what I needed to fix with this tool. ... show more

  • I am a beginner, and this is a great tool for me to learn with
I want to be upfront with folks reading this, this is my first welder. I am a beginner. That said, this welding machine had everything I needed to get started (except the welding rods and helmet 😁). You do need a welding helmet (protect your eyes!!!). For me, this is an excellent starting welding machine. I'm still practicing on trying to produce clean-flowing welds. The kit comes with the welding gun, the ground cable, brush, gloves, instructions (that are crap) and a case for storing everything. I got the 250A model. This supports 1/16" to 1/8" size welding rods. They indicate that this can weld up to 1/8" material The instruction book is crap (it is written in poor English, and it is confusing). But a poor instruction book does not detract from the product itself. Talking to some friends who are more experienced than me at welding, they prefer a rod holder that is lighter-weight. I don't find using a welding 'gun' difficult, but this apparently is a very important preference. For me still learning, this welder has been easy to use, and has given me some confidence in trying to weld. I've still not produced a 'smooth' weld, but I am getting closer and it is me learning how to move the rod, not the welder itself. In fact, I feel that I'm doing as well as I am so far because of this welder! 👍 Please, use a proper welding helmet. My mentors explained this is VERY important for beginners, do NOT look directly at the weld as you are working. Use a welding visor!!! There are many features on this welder that my friends say are nice, but I don't have the experience yet to understand why (like its cooling). But they have said that this welder is a good starting tool for me. The welding itself takes a little getting used to, and you have to learn to 'flow' the weld. I know what the weld is supposed to be doing, but my welds don't look as nice as my friends using this welder who have years of experience. So it is definitely me, and the welder works REALLY well when they are using it. I still need to understand why I want to adjust the current and how that helps me. But this welder allows adjusting between 20-250 amp output. And the cooling seems to be important too, but it just works, so I don't know how to review that. I'm committed to practicing and getting better. My goal is to be able to do some simple welds to complement my hobbies (woodworking and having home made brackets, etc.). So, in conclusion, this is a good welder (my experienced friends seem to think so too). You can create a good weld with flowing results if you know what you are doing. And I'm sure that soon I will be making better welds. For a beginner like me, there is a lot to learn, and this tool has allowed me to get into the skill of welding. 👍 ... show more

  • Probably fine for very light duty welding
The welder is compact and lightweight. One could easily handle and weld with just one hand. The grounding cable attachment to the gun can get in the way of things, but that’s probably just my personal annoyance with it. I will say that this welder works fine for what it is intended for, and that’s very light duty welding. I tried welding a nut to this 0.1” thick tube and it wasn’t having it. The weld rod just gets stuck to the piece and causes all kinds of issues. Even with the power turned to max, it couldn’t do the job. I’ll give it another try when I have some t m thin sheet metals to spot weld, but beyond that it’s not going to see much action. ... show more
