First of all this is not easy to assemble. The heater turns itself off every, few minutes, even following directions to leave it on low 5 min. still turns off even before 5 min. Not returnable so do not get stuck with it Update: I am not going to change my stars because I should not have had to do what I did. Since this was clearly broke and nonreturnable, I took the liberty of tying to fix it. I was able to but I had to take a cutoff grinding tool to remove two nuts that hold the thermo couple bracket and move it closer to the flame. That did work perhaps I got one that did not pass or have Quality Control. Since it now works I was able to see the one pound cylinders only last about an hour. so get the bigger tank and adapter hose. Good Luck and Stay Happy ... show more

    • 30 Minute Assy & Truth in Advertising - Not Really
The first big disappointment came on opening the instruction book. The information on Amazon's website says this unit is designed for the small 1# Propane canisters, you CAN use the larger ones with an add on regulator and hose. Well - the first thing you see when you open the instructions is a very visible well laid out insert that tells you that the unit will NOT work well with the 1# tanks, they will freeze up after about 25 minutes of use and strongly recommends NOT using them and buying the extra hose and using a large tank. WOW! Had I known that, I probably would have made a different decision. Ok, so moving on to the assembly. The instructions were not the WORST I have seen, but not by much. The drawings are misleading, the instructions leave out key information and are oversimplified. The wrench provided to use with the assembly is of very poor quality and nearly useless. I am an Engineer and routinely build things for myself, so it was not much of a reach for me to figure out how this went together. I can easily see where someone without a similar background could get into trouble really quickly. So after making the additional purchase of the extra hose, I got the unit started up and working. It does provide heat, but if there is even the slightest breeze, it is ineffective in an open area. So, all in all, as long as we have a calm night with only a bit of a chill, it will probably be useful, but in a limited way. Not a big fan of this product. ... show more

We had one of these before and when it was time to get another one ( yes they don't last forever) we ended up with a horrible heater and actually threw it in the trash. The Hampton Bay is the best one out there in our opinion. Fires up fast, good heat etc. It is now put away since it's spring here in Arizona ... show more

We’re pretty happy with this. Gives out sufficient heat for our 13’ x 8’ lanai. We did switch out the tank to an 11 lb one. Little tricky finding the proper hose and still would prefer one longer. Could only find a 4’ Price is a little crazy as you can buy a full size one for about the same or less $$ ... show more

Heat is heat, and this is a great value for the money! It's heavy (in a good way) and well made, AND attractive! It's definitely letting us stay outside on the deck way longer this season, love it! Also enjoy its pretty glow, very calming.

    • Get the adapter hose for it so you can use a 5 gallon tank
It work perfectly i got it for my garage. The 1lb cans are a waste of time. I got the adapter hose to hook it up to a 5 gallon tank. We love it
