What intrigued me about the Hamilton Beach Digital Programmable Rice Cooker & Food Steamer is its versatility, especially the steaming feature. I love making one-pot meals and this device has made it soooo much easier to do so! Using the Grains option, I've made pots of lentils/barley/brown rice, rice and beans (with both the White Rice and Grains options), buckwheat/barley, quinoa, couscous, polenta. All that's left to do is add extras (e.g., scrambled egg, shrimp, mixed veggies, cheese) to the cooked rice or grains for a quick and nutritious meal! I've yet to use the steamer basket but am planning to try steaming a bit of salmon and a few veggies this weekend while a batch of rice cooks below. The Hamilton Beach Digital Programmable Rice Cooker & Food Steamer is easy to use and a snap to clean: I spray a bit of olive oil in the non-stick pot before adding the rice/grains, herbs, broth and have ZERO residue to clean off the bottom of the pot! Smaller than expected but it still cooks plenty of rice quickly. It's solidly built, it's like a full stainless steel body and the interface is very simple. Just add rice, water and press your button. It's a small unit, compared to my 10? cup Aroma rice cooker it looks like a toy. My old rice cooker went bad, need a replacement. I was looking for very simple rice cooker, no need for any fancy features. Just cook rice, brown rice in particular because that’s what I eat. I selected this Hamilton Beach 8 cups rice cooker because I have good overall impression of Hamilton Beach as a brand. Had an HB juicer and it lasted forever. The package was well organized and protected. Came with some accessories neatly packed, but all I really needed was the measuring cup. The coating on the nonstick pot seems rather thin, and the pot doesn’t feel as sturdy as ones seem in higher end rice cooker. Also, the power cord is extremely short, measured at only about 25 inches. That kind of limits where you can place it on the countertop, unless you have an extension cord. Cooking process was nice and simple, I basically rinse the rice, add water, place the pot in the cooker, press “Whole Grain” cooking option, and that is it! This simple rice cooker does its main job very well, I am satisfied with the result. It is very well-priced for a simple rice cooker. My expectation is to enjoy trouble-free rice cooking for the next 3~4 years. If this thing breaks within 1 year (or even shorter), you will see me come back to update the review. ... show more

I got this cooker during Prine day due to losing my previous rice cooker when I moved. The biggest thing I was looking for was the ability to also slow cook. I love that this comes with extra accessories to steam, boil eggs, a rice measuring cup and a rice spoon. Although I lost the steamer and boiling egg attachment they were very nice. The cooker is pretty easy to use you turn it on and set it to the setting you want with cooking rice it doesn’t tell you how long which isn’t great but it does beep and immediately switches to warming. I don’t mind that it doesn’t tell me how long I have to cook my rice since I have an idea but if you aren’t aware this might be a little annoying to you. Overall I really love this product it has made cooking so much easier for me and I’m super excited to make more than rice with it. ... show more

Does rice cooker works really well and it's easy to clean the capacity is good for at least three to 6 people depending on if they want a second serving. Crisis fully cooked within 20 to 25 minutes and the function for hard-boiled eggs is amazing the only downside if I had one is you can only make five eggs at a time but other than that it's freaking amazing and it also would make a great gift for college students or young adults moving out on their own. ... show more

My wife struggled with cooking regular rice and has been spending a fortune on instant rice. I decided to invest in this item after seeing it for $12 more at Walmart, so I saved a few bucks and got the rice cooker here on Amazon. It came quickly, and was cooking amazing coconut rice for us an hour after I received it (just add 1/2 coconut milk and half water, follow all other directions for regular rice just swap out half the water with coconut milk, a pinch of salt and 1 table spoon sugar for every 2 cups cooked rice. Works great smwith spicier dishes or sweeter dishes, the coconut milk just makes the rice better. Love this cooker, it will pay for itself within a year of not buying instant rice lol. ... show more

This rice cooker works great for two people. Makes consistently good rice and is easy to clean. It replaced a no-longer-functioning Aroma cooker that I liked a lot but made more rice than I typically need (I can use my instant pot for more servings). I wasn’t sure about getting a smaller size since I’d also had an Aroma mini that was messy to use. This is a basic, affordable cooker if you don’t need bells and whistles and want to save space.
