  • It came in good shape and fast shipping
Have not cooked in it yet I got a Tangia alcohol burnner coming to day and I got a Starfire wood stove from 4patriots. Have not used a mess kit in a long time but looks of good quality and it is stainless steel. I set things up with gandkids and we will see.

  • Perfect for the right occasion~
Upon receiving I was immediately impressed by its size and weight. Leaving out the plastic cup, my fire starting kit includes a few fire cubes and a Lixada Camping Stove can easily fit inside. The mesh bag helps to kept it closed. The stainless steel is quite thin, I tested both on slow gas flame on a home cooktop. The pot did well boiling water. The pan was coated with thin veg oil, within seconds a noticeable POP was heard, the pan center popped inward, didn't really wrap or crack, just popped like a tin can. From the picture, you can see the heat was not distributed evenly that left the oil burnt mark. However, it is a backpack cookset, at its weight and thickness its too much to ask it to perform like a cast iron pan. It is a stainless steel pan, it gets sticky easily since the heat distribution is off, the top burnt mark was from my fry egg. Once the pan reached the right temp, my second over easy didn't stick at all. Verdict: If you are like me, not very serious, a weekend backpacker. At its price, pieces and weight, this will work very well for you if you are careful and use on camping stoves. If you are going to cook a fancy meal at a family camping event, or cook direct on top of hot coal, you can get frustrated quickly and the longevity of this set is rather questionable. ======== Update 3/6/22========= As seen on the second picture, the pan warped on the third use. This was after cooking a frozen burger patty. Pan was warm on slow flame but not super hot, but the thin material doesn't handle heat well. I suspect the frozen patty caused the warp. I decided to maintain 5 star rating since it still does its job as a backpack cookset. But will keep updating after more usage. ======== Update 3/14/22 ======== Very impressed that everything below fit inside the cookset after removing the plastic cup. 1. Telescoping blow tube 2. Trangia alcohol stove. 3. 2 oz fuel. 4. Bic lighter. 5. Swiss army knife - mid size. 6. About 15 ft of No.12 bank line. 7. 3 cubes of Zip fire starter. 8. 2 Cotton balls. 9. Ferro rod and striker 10. Lixada stove. There is still space for more little things! Took about 15 mins for water to boil which was longer than expected, mainly due to the temperature was about 5°F, there was ice floating on surface when I started. Fuel used was 91% rubbing alcohol which produced quite a bit of carbon. A few more uses the bottom of pot will be properly blacken and I hope that will reduce boil time. Very happy so far! ... show more

  • Perfect for hiking!
I bought this pan to warm up my meal on a hiking trip last summer. It works very well! Just be careful if you are using a butane stove that you don't turn the heat too high or it will burn in the center of the pan.

  • Great starter kit for a boy scout!
Solidly made, handles the abuse of a younger camper, and packs compactly.

  • Great cooking and light weight.
Works great, cooks good and light weight. The only problem I have with it is there's no way to lock down the unit. Everytime I take it out of the mesh bag the pan pops off the bowl or slides off cause it just loosely fits together with no locking device. Other than that it's not bad.

  • Review
Metal used isn't great .... Had slight warping upon 1 use.... Can't really take the heat to well... Still usable mind u... But rather basic in construction... Probably more suited to little pocket stoves than in the fire.....
