  • Great charger with app
Size: NEMA 6-50 Color: Classic
Pros: Solid build. Simple design. Good price. Fast technical support. Great app. Can control remotely, and not just on local network Cons: A bit difficult to hard wire because you need to purchase appropriate wire lugs. Took a bunch of research to find ones that would fit. You need a pretty strong WIFI signal for a stable connection. But was able to put a wifi router in the garage. ... show more

  • EV Charger
Size: NEMA 14-50 Color: Classic
It was easy install but not as easy to get set up the WiFi. I followed the instructions but could not attach to the WiFi. 3 calls to their help team and was told for 3 days someone would call me back with the solution. 3rd day I called the help line once again and was told to open the box move a switch reboot set it back to the original position. Reboot and it connected perfectly. Have no idea how they could expect you to set up the unit yourself. 3 minutes to properly set it up. Now I love the charger. ... show more

  • Charger works well! Smart features not so much.
Size: NEMA 14-50 Color: Avalanche
Replaced a Juicebox that had been struggling to charge our Pacifica and ultimately failed. (This was our third juicebox unit, and was no longer in warranty). That brought me to the Grizzl-E product, which has a similar plug and is significantly less expensive. I debated between the wifi and dumb version and opted to spend the extra $50 for the wifi version just to allow for any timed charging features. The charger works well - box is lower profile than the juicebox. Construction is less heavy duty, notably the charger cord is smaller wire and the charger handpiece cradle is more flimsy. But, it charges like a champ and we've been using it for a couple of months now. If I did it over, I'd buy the one without wifi. This doesn't work well. It has to have a dedicated 2.4 GHz network so our mesh EERO didn't work. I purchased an extender for our Modem to give it it's own network and it is online maybe 20% of the time. The app is not very well designed or mature. Overall the wifi feels like they slapped it on a otherwise well made discount product but didn't put much effort into it, which suckers people to pay a premium. Overall, very happy with the function of the actual device though. Especially after all the problems we had had with Juicebox. ... show more

  • Overreliance on connectivity for smart features; Wi-Fi drops frequently for no reason
Size: NEMA 14-50 Color: Avalanche
To use the scheduling feature, you need active Wi-Fi connection - not just when you setup/program but all the time or the charger could start charging at your most expensive electric rate. And Wi-Fi drops out frequently - so no this is a very real problem. Why does this charger stop following the configured schedule and just charge all the time because it does not have an active Wi-Fi connection??? Electronics from the 1980s were able to (a) keep time and (b) follow a programmed schedule without needing constant external communications. Why is this charger different? This is massive level stupid - like the head of product/engineering should get fired stupid. We are close to have artificial general intelligence and Grizzl-E cannot even design a product with the resiliency of a 1987 VCR??? We are in Southern California Edison territory with time of use electric billing, so the cost for peak electricity vs. non-peak can be 2-3x more expensive. If I have charger plugged in to car and WiFi drops out, I could easily spend extra $5-10 on electricity each time that happens. The Wi-Fi connection is unreliable at best. The garage door opener and washer/dryer are also in garage and do not seem to have the same issue with losing connection. I tried adding guest network just for charger that was only 2.4Ghz per instructions but that did not work any better (actually worse). The base charging functionality seems fine, but it not very useful if I have to remember to only plug charger into car after 9pm. ... show more

  • Great sturdy charger
Size: NEMA 14-50 Color: Classic
This charger is extremely well made. It's all metal and had a thick cord that looks like it will last. Only downside of the metal construction is that wifi reception is weak and it needs to be located near a wifi node or extender. Otherwise I think this is the best bang for your buck. • Fantastic charger, ultra reliable, great price, Terrible customer service
Size: NEMA 14-50 Color: Avalanche
I purchased this charger to install in an individual condo garage. It works flawlessly. I read many reviews for this and other chargers, and decided this was the best bet for my money. I have a BMW i4, and a very common issue is how difficult the "charge in timeslot" is in the app (overly complicated, requires a departure time, pulls power at plug in to 'test' the charge rate...ect). The easiest way around this is a smart ev charger that can schedule for Time of Use. The Grizzl-E works flawlessly in this regard. One common complaint I read was about the wifi reception, which worried me. I purchased a wifi-repeater to install in my garage, and have had zero problems. Overall, extremely satisfied and would highly recommend. -2 Stars for a terrible interaction with their customer service. Wow. Not quite as bad as Tesla, but what happened to companies supporting their products with even minimal customer service. ... show more
