  • Ah-Mazing!
Size: 21" SP Mower (Tool Only)
Aside from some issues packaging and vague instructions I highly recommend this mower. I purchased it to replace a high-end gas mower that my daughter borrowed and never returned. To call that serendipitous is an understatement. I've been using it for 2 months now. Here's a list of what I noted: 1. The instructions are under the machine when one opens the box. Hard to know how to unpack when you can’t reach them. 2. The font size of the instructions will challenge anyone who needs glasses to read. 3. The catcher bag was not wrapped and snagged on the lower deck. It took a while to figure out how to get it loose 4. Bolt and knob assembly holding the upper part of the handle is confusing. It loosened but did not release from the bolt. Pulling on the knob as I turned it revealed an extra set of screw threads and the knob did eventually come off. 5. Replacing and tightening those knobs was another exercise in confusion. Once attached to the bolts they simply spun round and round without grabbing the second set of bolt threads. I did figure it out without guidance from the vague instructions. 6. With my same-width (21") self-propelled gas mower, I cut my 3000 square feet of lawn in about 40 minutes. It takes 45 with this mower but that is likely just me and how I handle it. 7. Self propel accelerates once engaged so selecting speed can be a challenge but one will get used to it. 8. It is MUCH lighter and much easier to maneuver 9. The grass catcher is smaller than my gas model but I didn’t have to empty more often; seems the clippings are much finer than those from my gas mower 10. One can start and stop when convenient IE when stopping to pull a weed or remove a pine cone, etc. – no pulling starter rope! 12. Storage super compact-easy to store in my garage vs gas mower which was always stored outside 11. 2.5 amp 80-volt battery from the GreenWorks leaf blower I own still had power after 45 minutes of mowing 3000 square feet 14. Single lever height adjustment is a dream come true 15. I wear ear protection but likely not needed - quite quiet, especially compared to gas mower 16. The lowest speed of the self-propelled is a bit high when cutting in close spaces but manageable. 17. No gas smell, no gas to store, no refueling mid-way through cutting, no rubber gloves to wear when refueling., 45-minute recharge - it is fantastic! ... show more

  • Very Impressed with Greenworks 80V Lawnmower!
I do have to say that I am very impressed with the operation of this Greenworks 80V 21" Self-propelled lawnmower. (Greenworks 80V 21" Brushless Cordless (Self-Propelled) Lawn Mower (Dual Ports + Light), Battery and Charger Not Included (75+ Compatible Tools)) Since this is my first battery operated lawn mower, I was unsure on how long the batteries would last. I really couldn't tell from past reviews as yard conditions vary and affect battery performance. I purchased a tool-only version so I had to get some batteries on my own. I opted for one 4.0Ah Greenworks battery and one 3.5Ah Generic battery. Those original Greenworks batteries are so, so dang expensive. 1. Greenworks PRO 80V 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery ((Genuine Greenworks Battery / 75+ Compatible Tools) 2. TenHutt 【Upgrade】 80V 3.5Ah Replacement Battery for Greenworks PRO 80V Battery GBA80200 GBA80300 GBA80400 Lithium ion Battery High Capacity This first mowing session, I used the self-propelled feature, probably 85% of the time. The grass was longer than I normally cut at also, it was about 5.5" and the mower was set at the #7 position, which I understand to be 4". Photos 1-3 show my back yard and one side yard (half of the other side yard was also cut as well as the curb strips in front of the house), there is an incline from the front of the house down to the back yard. Photo 4 shows that the 3.5Ah (TenHutt) battery was depleted and the 4.0Ah battery (Greenworks) still full. Photos 5-7 show the front yard and other side yard (half cut from back yard). Photo 8 shows the 4.0Ah battery (Greenworks) with two bars still left on the battery. I was very pleased and was maybe expecting 1 bar to be left. The lawn mower operated flawlessly and I was also surprised by how quiet the motor was. I did have to get used to the self-propelled feature. As noted in other reviews, it does take a second to engage and disengage, with a rotation or two to unlock the drive wheels on disengaging. Engaging was no problem, on disengage you just have to release the drive handles about one mower width before you want to turn. At least that is what worked for me. Photo 9 shows the vertical storage position and also how clean the deck was. This was the first time I tried a silicone spray to keep grass from sticking to the deck and I think it worked well. Photo 10 shows the silicone spray used. Photos 11 and 12 show the Ah's of the batteries that were used for the mowing session. Small update. Still very impressed withbthe 80V mower. As picture states, 4th cut at height 6 I had three bars remaining on the Greenworks 4Ah battery, the 3.5Ah generic was depleted. Was mowing at height 6 because lawn was thick and it had rained heavy yesterday with more on the way. ... show more

  • Great Electric Mower!
Size: 21" SP Mower (Tool Only)
I purchased my mower 5 years ago. I have not had a single issue with it. The battery last plenty of time for a small to medium sized yard. I have an incline on both sides of my house greater than 20°, more like 35°- 40° and it climbs fine with a slight push. I have cut slightly wet grass several times (though not recommended) with no problems. I loved the mower so much that I bought a second one, mostly because they had the wrong of $200 on it. I'm keeping it til the first one dies at some point. This is a great mower, get one! ... show more

  • Perfect mower for a small to medium lawn that's relatively flat
Size: 21" SP Mower (Tool Only)
I don't bag so I can't talk about that aspect of it, but I've been very satisfied with this mower. That said, I'll nitpick a couple of things. The propulsion is kind of anemic and there's a decent delay between pulling up on the lever and the mower actually moving. And similar delay once you let go of the lever and the drive disengaging so if you ever had to move the mower back and forth quickly, just disengage the drive and do it manually. The wheels are hard plastic and don't give good traction on wet grass and up a grade. The motor itself does have the sufficient power to pull the mower up a fairly decent grade but the wheels will slip a lot. My lot is flat enough that I can work with the factory wheels but if yours is not, you might want to think about replacement wheels. Other than that (and they are admittedly fairly minor issues), this is a great mower well worth the money. If you're already in the Greenworks 80v family of products, it's even an easier choice. ... show more
