  • Durability should be 6 stars. A hammock masterpiece.
Bought this in 2016 as a cheap backpacking hammock. We took it backpacking once. It worked great and we loved it! Super comfy, sturdy, everything you want in a hammock. Since we liked it so much backpacking, we set it up at home by our fire pit where it's remained, attached to the same trees, through all sorts of weather (snow, rain, thunderstorms, falling branches, hot ash from the fire pit, 300+ pounds of human in it repeatedly, temps from -20 to 100) for 6 years now. We've never taken it down. Our family has all used it, read books there, kids swing in it, had guests sit in it during outdoor firepit get togethers, etc and we've never had an issue despite zero maintenance and all sorts of abuse. As you can tell from the pics, the trees are growing over the cords now since it's hung there been there for so long. The cords themselves look new still and show zero wear. There is a very small amount of rust on the carabiners, but I'd imagine they'd last at least 10 years outside 24/7/365 with zero issues. No holes anywhere in the hammock. Slight color fade in the hammock from intense outdoor conditions for 6 years, but that's it. TLDR: It's a modern engineering marvel and one of my best purchases on amazon ever. Buy it. ... show more

  • Grand Trunk Is The Way To Go!
Grand Trunk is the way to go if you are thinking about Hammocking! ENO, Bliss, Hennessy, and others are all great brands and will probably be worth your money. However, Grand Trunk is one of the best in my opinion! Their customer service is like no other and they will always try and help you reach a solution or just send you a new hammock, no charge;) Even though they already have one of the highest lb. testing ratings of any double hammock out there (400lbs), I have put over 600lbs of people (4 big guys) in this hammock! It wasn't very comfortable, but that's not the point... it didn't break! Not even a rip! Now that's quality! So they are made with great material and come in many color options, but even better is the fact that they try to be user friendly in the fact that they give you two 5-foot pieces of strong paracord! So it's not the bee's knees.. but it's something and it's more than ENO gives. You can set this hammock up right out of the box (or bag rather). The paracord is strong enough to hold any weight that the hammock can handle, but it is kinda short and heavy for long-term advanced hammocking. For any beginner, this may be all they need. It also comes with strong steel carabiners. These are heavy duty and will hold any weight you put in the hammock, but this also means that they are physically heavy as well. Again, for beginners this could be a great set-up. You can also simply buy either the ENO Atlas Straps or the Grand Trunk "Trunk Straps" which are currently on pre-order but will be out soon. these are essecially the same strap, but Grand Trunk offers different colors while ENO only has black. But for more advanced I would look into buying or making the famous "Whoopie Slings" out of Amsteel Blue (Which is a braided rope that is as strong as steel!). You can then use a number of different attachment types including aluminum carabiners, whoopie hooks, or even a Marlin-Spike knot with a toggle, among many other options. This will give you the best versatility and will be the most light out of any of the above suspension options, but will also be the most expensive. This hammock is definitely big enough for two people to cuddle or even lounge, but will probably not be the best for two people to sleep in overnight. When hammocking, it is best to sleep diagonal in symmetrical hammocks (like this one and all other "double" hammocks). Sleeping diagonal will allow one to get flat and will be better for their back, neck, legs, etc. I am a 6' 0' 270lb. guy who fits in this hammock very well, along with a possible friend or two or my "cuddle-buddy" :) In my opinion, this is the NUMBER 1 best beginner hammock on the market! It can easily be "transformed" into a great advanced hammock as well, but this could get pricey depending on what you want to change about the actual hammock. Bottom line, this hammock will do the job and do it well. In my experience, do your homework, look up videos and/or forum posts and collect research before you purchase any product. It is usually always worth it and it will always pay off. :) ... show more

  • Best night of back-country ...sleep ever!
Color: 2 Tone - Crimson/Khaki
I've owed the Eno Double Nest for about six years. It was a great hammock that took me on many adventures. However, I never found the Eno Double Nest to be comfortable enough to sleep in all night. Don't get me wrong, it was a great hammock to laze around camp in, I just couldn't get it to feel just right. Earlier in the year, I lent it to a friend during a camping trip and she said it was the best night of sleep she's ever had. After gifting the Eno Double Nest to her, I started doing a bit of research and came across the Grand Trunk Double. Material-wise, craftsmanship, and overall quality of the products seem to be very similar to each other (Eno Double Nest vs. Grand Trunk Double). Meaning that both were excellently manufactured, the parachute nylon material felt strong and sturdy, while feeling cool to the touch and comfortable against the skin. Both hammocks came with sturdy carabiners. While only the Grand Trunk came with a little cordage so you can hang your hammock right away (Eno does not come with any additional hanging cordage). While cords are great to see what your hammock looks like hung up, it is a little rough on the trees; consider investing in some tree straps (will review next). What makes the Grand Trunk Double a better option over the Eno Double Nest, for me is the fact that it is much more comfortable to me. I carry have a large frame and the extra foot of length that the Grand Trunk Double (10.5') over the Eno Double Nest (9.5') makes a world of difference. I understand that there are larger hammocks on the market, but my primary needs involve backpacking and ease of use. Larger hammocks than the Grand Trunk Double tend to be a bit heavier and more difficult to find prime hanging spots (the Eno Double Nest is much easier to find spots to hang than the Grand Trunk Double). A few weeks ago, I took the Grand Trunk Double on a three day trip to Havasupai Falls. Not only did the hammock hold up. It was the most comfortable camping experience I've ever had. While I won't be throwing away my tent anytime soon, as much of my camping (50%) is either at over 9000' (meaning fragile trees) or in the desert, I can't see myself using anything else but the hammock where it is a viable option. Please note, that there is a learning curve to sleeping in a hammock. Do your research and practice sleeping in it by taking your naps in the hammock for a couple weeks prior to your trip. Overall, I love this hammock and would highly recommend it for hangers who are about 6' tall with large frames. ... show more

  • Very Comfortable Hammock
Color: Olive Green/Khaki
This is my second Grand Trunk double hammock. I bought two other hammocks for backpacking and gave my original Grand Trunk hammock to my wife. The Grand Trunk double hammock is so much more comfortable than my other two hammocks I bought a second Grand Trunk double because it's very comfortable.
