First of all, it is NOT 1/8" thick. Closer to 1/32" thick actually. That being said, I was pretty ticked off I waited over a week for this thin little piece of felt. So before returning it I thought I'd give it a try for the benefit of the doubt. First I tried punching a hole in it with my finger... not gonna happen. So I moved on to a screwdriver, and it took everything I could give it before even starting to poke through. Okay, this stuff is pretty tough. So my last concern was rocks, so I rolled it out over some rough rocks and walked across it. Now, these are rocks I can (but really try never to) walk across because they hurt. I was able to walk easily over them with this Gorilla Pad on top. So I ordered it because it claimed it was tough (passed that), claimed it would keep sharp rocks from poking through (seems to do that), and that it was 1/8" thick (failed that). Two out of three, gets 3 out of 5 stars. All in all, I'm glad I picked one up, but I don't think they should cost this much. At $20 it would have been a bargain. ... show more

After searching for how to preserve my pool bottom and save it from rocks/debris I found the Goilla Pad. It is a thin, thick, piece of felt, however we have had no issues with the product. It really makes the bottom of the pool feel softer. One tip before you fill with water shake out any rocks/sand that may have landed on top of the liner while assembling. I don't know if someone sent me half or what! This is just a GIANT piece of FELT! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I saw the picture and it looks like it is Rubber and felt but all i received was one white giant piece of felt. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Laid this down as I installed our Intex Ultra Frame 14 Foot X 42 Inch Above Ground Swimming Pool. I had dug out to level and was unsure of some of the disturbed root ends and rock cutting the liner but after 2 months, so far no problems. I would recommend this.

So worth the $. I am glad that I researched & decided to spend the extra for this ground protection. Even though I prepped the ground as instructed after taking it down I am sure our pool wouldn't have survived without the added protection. It doesn’t look like much but it does the job extremely well! Spent a lot of time preparing the sight for the pool, and even so, once set up there were some very sharp plant roots that were cut way below ground level that worked their way up over the summer. I thought for sure that all that time and prep would be wasted because surely these couple little sharp spears that were under the gorilla pad and pool liner would put a hole in it. Even with my 3 kids, and young nieces coming to swim regularly, the pool liner nor the pad had any holes, tears or any other damage from what had washed up under the pool. Ignore negative reviews. I used this all this summer (2019) Did you level the ground? Did you place it on soul and not grass? Only the edges of mine had some mold but I couldn’t believe the center was spotless. Made the bottom of pool so nice and smoothed out bumps and sharp things too small to get rid of. This is a thin peace of felt cloth. I bought it in the winter for this summer when I opened it I was putting up the pool . I was so disappointed I cried cuz I had to finish putting the pool up and I didn't have time to send it back and find different one. I put down a bunch of fine sand with no rocks but it had rained a few weeks before so some of the sand was clumpy, I raked as best I could think well this stupid thing had good reviews it should work with sand under it but not I can feel every little lump😡 So upsetting don't waste your money ... show more
