I got this for my sister so she can keep her car charged when she goes on long trips. The battery in her card dies pretty quick because of all the electronics in the car. She usually has a ton of work trips so having this saves her car from dying which is great. This device easily plugs into the wall and the charger is able to keep your battery charged. It is easy to just clamp and power the device on. You can turn the device off whenever you do not need it. The digital screen shows how much power is going through and the internal fan system keeps this thing from over heating. I am not sure if you should plug this into a surge protector. I would only recommend plugging it directly in the wall to avoid any issues. I am not an electrician but I just would not plug this into a power strip. I have not tried to use this to jump a car. I did try it on my school golf carts to see if it does a good job with charging and it does pretty well. I would say this works pretty well to keep your battery charged when you have things in storage. The cable is fairly long so you do not have to worry about not having enough slack. I could actually keep this device on my engine and have it charging which is great. It may not work for others though but I have a flat area. The golf cart though was able to charge overnight without much issue. When I checked the golf cart in the morning, it was fully charged. I like that you can change how much power is going through. The clamps are live so be careful when handling them. I would recommend clamp BEFORE you turn it on just to avoid any issues. Also make sure you have the correct settings before powering it on. The cooling system is not too loud and it does not get too hot. Overall this is a good device to have if you are trying to make it so that you have something that can charge your car battery or golf cart. So far it has done a great job doing both. That being said, I am not sure if the charger is able to jump a car. I would recommend using this for cars that are not always in use and need to keep their batteries from dying. Worked fine for my old lead acid batteries and then for the new LifePo4 battery I got. I bought it for the fact that it could do both. It worked for a few times with the lithium battery but stopped working. It is 2 months old so out of Amazon replacement window. I contacted the seller and they quickly offered a replacement or refund because it is within the 1 year warranty. I opted for the refund because I decided to get a LifePo4 charger that I can install permanently in the golf cart. Excellent service for what I still think is a good charger. ... show more

This is a lithium battery charger exclusively, an extra nice feature on this is the attachments for different types of battery connectors I happen to own a Ryobi riding lawn mower that I just replaced from lead acid to lithium the batteries are perhaps half the weight which is fantastic but that's another story. I had my first occasion to have to charge the lithium batteries and this machine is exactly what is recommended by many of the DIY users on YouTube which is why I chose it the four batteries are in series making it 48 volts it charged up to 54 and 1/2 which is actually the recommended top off charge I used the center setting rather than the highest figuring why rush it. It seemed to work flawlessly at this moment in time I have nothing bad to say about it, as an aside it comes with an adapter that will plug directly into the Ryobi riding mower unfortunately Ryobi uses two different styles of adapters so if you already have this more and your old charger has the style that fit all you have to do is take three screws off of the adapter and swap out the one that comes with the new charger and replace it with the adapter that came with your old charger that worked it is not a problem it is an electrically minor minor fix there is a small jumper wire if you wish to add it to make it perfect that goes from the common to the upper center plug but if you don't use it it doesn't detract from the charging whatsoever so I give this charger and outstanding rating for what it does and what a potentially can do it of course is heat protected cool protective overcharging protective and the adapters are superior ... show more
