Just got these, and they look great. Really good value for the money. Straight and sharp. But be aware, although the description says carbide, the carbide is on the center point only. The cutting edge is high carbon steel. But still a good value.

I have wanted a set of these for some time, and these did not disappoint. This is a really nice set for the price. Came with a decent blow-molded storage case as well, which does not seem to be pictured.

I can remember when Forstner bits first appeared on the market and they were so expensive that I might be lucky to get one bit for Christmas. It took me years to put together a set anything close to a complete set of sizes. And then occasionally I would hit a piece of metal or some similar accident and destroy a bit. This style of bit is not like regular drill that you can fix with a quick trip to the grinder. So this set from GMTools is a pleasant surprise: a complete set from tiny to a big 2 1/8" for a very reasonable price and a storage case too. I drilled a test hole or two and was pleased with the crispness of the cut. When you use a Forstner bit you are not just trying to make a hole, it is frequently something that needs to be accurate maybe the basis of some sort of joint. I need the top corners of the hole to be sharp and crisp. Otherwise you may as well use a flat bit. When you feel the cutting edges of one of the bits with your fingers they are not screaming sharp but they are quite good. It is possible to tweak the edges with a little triangular slip stone but it is fiddly and difficult to maintain the correct angle. That being said these bits do a good job straight out of the box and will be a valuable member of my tool set from now on. ... show more
