    • Excellent small capable device

Purchased as a Linux media PC and NAS. Running Debian. I have not been able to get WiFi 6E to work with 6ghz signal. On 5ghz, wifi works pretty well with good speed. However the WiFi card's temperature can quickly skyrocket to absurdly high destructive temperatures. If you max out the WiFi link such as during a local speed test, I've seen the temperature quickly climb above 105 C before I chickened out and stopped the speed test. Otherwise the system is most impressive in that it can run cool especially in its low power mode set via EUFI. There's a secondary fan on top. It's quite noisy. Runs all the time and does very little to cool the device. Monitoring temperatures, the fan does not significantly help cool the WiFi adapter. SSD doesn't seem to heat up much even without the fan. This MiniPC had been sold earlier without the top fan. Not sure why they felt the need to add one. I had earlier tried the GMKTec G3 minipc. Its SSD did get extremely hot and it doesn't have a fan, no heatsink, and the SSD is in a sealed top area without ventilation. Maybe they're overcompensating in this minipc or maybe it depends on the specific brand SSD included. As a media PC, the GPU is plenty fast to play 4k60 video stream even on low power mode. Meets my use case. It's also ideal for my use case as a NAS to have the two 2.5gbs ethernet ports. Pretty easy to set up bridging in Debian between the two ports. Can get amazing speeds to/from the NAS over 2.5gb ethernet. Overall, good system, good value when promotion or coupon is in place. ... show more

The Ryzen 7 8847HS mini gaming PC by GMKtec is a surprising powerful little box and can be a great value for your money, especially if you catch it with a coupon code... even if it is a little loud when under load. I loved that I was able to run a full productivity load of Office, Creative Suite, numerous Chrome tabs, and still watch Youtube with no delays. It ran games like Cities Skylines with relative ease, and even carried Apex legends on my 4k monitor at between 30 and 50 FPS. My only complaint is that the fans get loud when in use, and it doesn't take much load to spin them up. I realized that even having Steam open in the background was enough to cause unexpected fan usage. It's a shame because it lead me to hide the unit in an effort to muffle fan noise. If this thing were silent or near silent, it would be at home mounted to the back of a monitor. All said, I really got it to be a Proxmox server and in this case it really shines. I have plenty of memory, cores, and storage to meet my home lab needs with room to grow. And perhaps it's because I'm not running games or video content, the system has been super quiet. I like the design and form factor. Worth the price at discount. Very good for light gaming such as emulators and E-Sport titles (League of Legends, CS 2, to name a few). Adjust your expectation if you're planning to play anything more demanding. It will be playable, but not smooth 60 FPS without much of the graphic settings set to low or medium. One small thing I didn't like is the fact that I have to remove the rubber feet in order to install the included mounting kit. The mounting kit should be designed in such a way that it accounted for the rubber feet, or the other way around. ... show more

I bought this as a multi media pc. Just for things like watching movies and stuff that my smart TV sucks at. I can also do some light gaming on it while relaxing in my recliner. It's not a gaming pc but it's good for what I need. It's got a cooling fan for the APU and it's very quiet even under load. And I'm surprised how cool it runs for it's size. It's small enough I can put it anywhere and it comes with a mounting bracket that I've used to mount it under my TV. The ram is plenty for streaming and the games I'm likely to play on it and the storage is sufficient making for a decently fast pc. It looks well made and preforms as expected or better. It has no issues streaming videos in on my 4k TV. Anyway I'm very satisfied with this mini pc. It's a perfect companion to my 4k dumb as a rock smart TV. If anyone is considering updating a older TV for a smart TV, I'd personally recommend this and a wireless keyboard with touch pad. I'd definitely recommend it to a friend. ... show more
