  • Good quality, *GREAT* value XLR patch cable !
Size: 6 feet Color: Black Number of Items: 1
I've been using GLS connectors for a little while now, when I'm making my own cables for home studio, pedal board, etc type projects. Not being in the mood to solder a bunch of XLR ends, i thought I'd cast my eye about for some 6 ft XLR patch cables. The GLS seemed to be right in the sweet spot for me price-wise,and FREE ONE DAY SHIPPING. (Say what?) I had to check it out! These are much better quality than you'd expect for a under $15. cable. The ends are nice and solid, the solder connections were good and the wire in the conductors is nice and meaty. The black jacket on the cable seems supple and sturdy as well. I'm using these for connecting home studio/audio equipment, so it's not going to be in a 'rough working environment', but I would gig with these in a heartbeat! I've certainly spent more money on crappier cables too, and lucky me-even the one day shipping was on time. -I would be very satisfied with the cable even with longer shipping. WAY better quality that the price would dictate. GLS are awesome, and one of my first 'Go to's" when I'm looking for cable ends, nice to know the quality extends to their cable line as well! ... show more

  • Well made cables for a very good price.
Size: 25 feet Color: Black Number of Items: 6
These are well made cables - on par with most any name brand you'd get at the same, or even double (likely double) the price at GC (and without the attitude, at least in my Baltimore area) or other brick and mortars that only stock a single "use it for one gig until you can order something that'll last, not crackle, stay plugged in properly, etc..." Brands like CBI (their custom shop makes good products - the normal line is overpriced) , monoprice, fender (talk about relying on name recognition to sell a product - bought a case of California cables a few years ago to have some backups. didnt care about losing when loaned out. I would've been better, well, not doing that....), Hosa (ugh.), Pyle (ugh.), Momster (you can get a good Monster cable, but most are an overpriced rip-off, so much so, I won't purchase them if they were the only option I had - Id roll my own out of spare parts and have a good chan of having a better cables than a monster 100 or 500, and not so fat is diameter to try and convince noobs they price is worth the build. --- uh, no...) or 100 others) . The only brands that universally beat the GLS are high-end (with a price to go with them) Mogami, Spectraflex (for live use - had great luck with superior longevity ), and Canare (my personal studio choice - everything in my studio is outfitted with canare with a few Mogami that suit certain mics better that other brands. Cables are, no questions asked, the #1 most expensive item in my studio and I own a very well appointed studio (no low or mid range stuff in there, I am an engineer by trade)-- cables make a huge difference in so many areas. Im sure there are other decent names, but these are the ones Ive had experience with, and when. find something that works, I stick with it unless there is a compelling sonic reason to change. In other words 1) for the price and 2) in live use - the GLS cables can't be beat. Consistent quality across the 6 I received. I appreciate the color ring near each connector (rather than rainbow cables, which are great for the back of a rack in the dark, but distracting in a high end visual presentation) to quickly identify the cable you are working on . I bundled the 6 cables i ordered into a stage snake, hitting the sax mics, keyboards, talkback mics, etc on the front line in one easy run - so that little extra visual ident helps when it's hard to see the labels. I Wouldnt hesitate to buy again (this is not my first GLS purchase - they are a better build than the Seismic audio brand that offers similar looking offerings for a little less (: they're cheaper for a reason :) --- advice: spend the couple extra bucks on the GLS and don't worry about the cold solder joints or other QC issues that come with the Seismic cables (which I tried on a whim, but now live in the emergency one-time use only bin.) ... show more

  • Great sturdy cable, holds up well to stress, and fits snugly with all my new equipment
Size: 6 feet Color: Black Number of Items: 1
The cord is nicely thick and snug against my MXL 770 and Shure X2U (Microphone and XLR/USB Converter, respectively). It fits well and feels strong and not cheap at all. I've been using my microphone with my new Windows laptop extensively for the past several weeks and this cord has held up nicely. The way my system is hooked up, the cord does not kink although it easily curves from my desk to the floor where my Shure X2U is. The cord is actually longer than I was expecting. I did find that connecting the cord to my MXL is hard, but it is the fault of the MXL's connector to be all black and hence make the holes harder to see, not the cord's fault. Once it's connected, it's snug and even has a neat metal tab that clicks to signify once you've got it and to help hold it in place. In the early weeks, before I learned my MXL 770 shock mount is adjustable and tightening is possible, I had the cord holding the entire weight of my MXL (as I had left it in the position where it sat down on my desk from the Samson desk stand) - the cord is strong enough to hold that well and did not develop any audio problems. I since discovered the MXL's placement is adjustable and now have the microphone held aloft by the shock mount. All in all, I'm highly satisfied by my purchase and would recommend this cord to any XLR mic owner. ... show more

  • Don't expect this to be optimum on stage.
Size: 12 feet Color: Black Number of Items: 1
I just realized that I like GLS cables a lot. They are fairly high quality and affordable, especially in the 6 packs. They are made very well and use fairly good materials, just so good that they can offer good prices. I ordered dozens and they were all well made. So for inside my rack that's perfect and for a lot of other applications esp. when the cables are short that's also perfect. For example in my project/home studio. I also realized that I want more than that for on-stage microphone cables. This cable feels a little flimsy, so I expect it will break if I step on it too often and if one thing is certain than that somebody will step on it on stage. ... show more

  • GLS makes some really nice cable for the price
Size: 12 feet Color: Black Number of Items: 1
Disclaimer. I am a hobbyist. I make music for fun in a zero traffic home office. My kids know to stay out, and I have not pets. I don't play out or perform to anyone but my DAW and I suppose what sound bleeds out to the family or neighbors. That being said I cannot testify as to if this cable will hold up to weekly gigs, being stepped or tripped on at practices, etc. If that were my situation, I would probably invest in some heavy duty cables. I can say it feels quality, it has no audible issues, and has held up to my white glove treatment. It is vastly superior in quality to other discount cable have had that failed even when treated well. This is a great value for a hobbyist and I am optimistic this will last me a long time. ... show more
