I installed this backup camera on my 2003 Honda Element with a Boss BVCP9685A radio I had installed a few years earlier. I wasn't sure at first if I would be able to use this camera with my setup, but after opening the box, my confidence was restored--this kit is ready for any setup. The camera unit itself has a relatively short wire, just enough to snake through the license plate lights and into the spare tire well where it ends with a thin circular plug that snaps into a long included wire. This included wire is very long, far longer than I needed, and likely offers enough wire for a stretch limo if you needed it. There was so much wire that I bundled up the excess in the spare tire well, too, after snaking it under the rocker panels to the front of the car and into the back of my radio. This long wire is planned very well with multiple wiring options. The end that plugs into the radio has the necessary RCA plug for delivering video, but it also includes a single power wire which I used to tap into the 12v feed provided by my radio. But the end with the plug that goes into the camera wire also has extra power lines, two long wires that can be snaked into the reverse light chamber. In that wiring, the camera could be powered only when the car is put into reverse. If my radio had an option for switching automatically to the backup camera when the car was in reverse, this would be the perfect setup. My radio doesn't do that, though, so instead the camera receives power at all times that the radio is on and I manually switch in and out of the picture. But since the wire offers that option, if one day I upgrade my radio, I just may take advantage of the automatic backup. The camera itself is a sturdy steel box that mounts easily over my license plate. It does cover up the plate a little bit. There's an alternate mount included for attaching the camera directly to the car if you have a place where you want to do that, but using the license plate cover was easiest for me. There's a lot of twist on the camera so you can angle it as low as you need it with a screw in the side to tighten it down. And the picture is really good, probably better than it needs to be. It's great in dim light and makes everything visible with a clear, crisp frame rate, and during the day the colors are surprisingly rich. I've been wanting to use the camera feature on my CarPlay radio ever since I installed it, and it's awesome to finally get that chance with such a solid camera. ... show more

BAckup cameras are a must. They are extremely useful to assist you in backing up. This camera does the job nicely and gives you a couple of different install options. The picture quality is very good and the install is relatively easy if you have done any automotive wiring in the past it is pretty simple. The hardest part of the install is actually feeding the wire where you need it. Depending ont he car, you will either have to make a hole or find a way to get the wire inside the vehicle. In my case its on a hatch, so I had to make a small hole for the wire and feed it through the hatch and then through a rubber grommet. Would be way easier on a vehicle with a normal trunk vs a station wagon or suv. ... show more

The array of backup cameras available anymore can be a bit overwhelming, but this one turned out to be a perfectly decent choice. The bracket didn't work out in my particular case, but I was installing this in an old mail truck which, safe to say, should be a fairly uncommon exception and not the rule. Picture quality is good, and even though backup cameras usually don't need fidelity quite like a dashcam, it looks better than some cheap dashcams I've used and I'm quite happy all around. ... show more

great image suepr easy to install with the new 4 pin cable systems. mounts easily and stays solid once tight. I do wish it had built in ir for night vision, if you have weak reverse bulbs it will be hard to see at night. Other than that it works perfectly!
