  • Works Great - nice and quiet
Works great in a workshop - it's nice and quiet. Next best thing to having central A/C. Vapor line was a little hard to bend, but the smaller liquid line was soft and easy to bend - just make sure to make smooth flowing bends. No hard turns. I think the instructions are a little sketchy to scare people into having unit professionally installed, which is best for those don't know what to do, but good enough for experienced DIY'ers to self install - if you have the gauges and vacuum pump. Unit gets cold immediately - you can hear the refrigerant start boiling in the evaporator just before the fan goes on - so it starts blowing out cold air. The inside unit is whisper quiet. Even the outside condenser is quiet - you have to be right next to it to hear the compressor running, and see the fan blades spinning. You can feel the heat coming out, in cooling mode. But wait - there's more - it is a heat pump that gives off heat in the winter, so it's a handy auxiliary heat source. ... show more

  • Simple enough installation and excellent energy efficiency in a quiet package.
This heat pump went into a 12x8 workshop. I was going to get a 9K unit because 12K is a bit overkill but I couldn't pass up the sale and when it's over 100 outside I don't have to worry about it being able to keep up. I am converting my shed to 100% solar and didn't have the winter capacity for resistive heat. This was the real reason for me getting this unit but after a week of running it for cooling, it's cooling so much better than the 5K window unit that was in there before and uses about half the electrical power doing it. Runs on inverter power like a charm. No real surprise there since it uses inverter tech. 0.99 power factor is pretty sweet too. Installation wasn't bad but if you have an AC buddy that can come over and do the install for a few hundred I would just do that. I had to buy the clawfoot adapters to use my torque wrench to make sure the lines were tightened to spec and get an adapter or two to make my vacuum pump work with the vacuum gauges. All said and done it was a sub 1k install, not terrible but I did have a lot of stuff that was needed already. I could have avoided some of this by installing a kit with the pre-charged quick-connect lines. Something to keep in mind if you are deciding between this kit and another is if you already have the tools. Note, the power input on this unit is expected to be at the condenser side. It does not come with a long enough AC wire to run back into the building to plug into a wall inside. I had to supply this. Also, 4 meters goes fast so plan the outdoor unit location well. Overall I am very happy with the quality of this kit. It wasn't missing anything except the condenser unit's condensate outlet bib. I don't really have issue with this as it is so dry around here there is unlikely to be enough condensate for it to even start dripping. ... show more

  • Don't waste your money..... It quit working in less than a week . It quit blowing cold
I paid to have it installed and then after less than a week of use it quit blowing cold. I didn't know there was a problem and I went out of town, while I was out of town it quit working and the return date passed. I got two quotes to have it repaired both were about $650 . When it came it was NOT a Glacer unit at all it was a Costway which is about $100 cheaper on Amazon. I got alot of run around from the Amazon reps and they would not replace the unit so I have to find a different unit to replace it. It is July 1st in California and 100 degrees and it was my only source of AC. ... show more

  • Not enough electrical wire or drainage hose
The unit was at a very good price and cost more to install it professionally than I paid for the unit. They do not provide enough electrical wire so additonal length had to be added and the drainage hose was too short and pvc piping had to be added as well. Currently the unit is work well but trying to register is not easy because the company does not recognize the Amazon order number. ... show more

  • Excellent value and EASY install
The media could not be loaded. In full disclosure I did have to pick up a new tool to complete the install. A flaring tool... that was it as I wanted to shorten the gas and liquid lines. All told install took me about 6 hours over a couple of days. The only complaint I can think of is the broken english and lack of clear diagrams in the installation manual... but I was able to fill in the blanks and now our garage is a cozy 72F when it is 98F outside. Plus, the compressor unit is SUPER quiet as the attached video shows. 9/10... would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Super efficient
So my central air stopped working 2 years ago , so I been using a 5000btu window unit in my bedroom since. I decided to buy this costo way 12k btu unit . My decision was based on reviews and price and I don't regret it for one minute.. love my AC. Myself and a friend did the install, I had to purchase longer copper lines because of where I wanted to place the condensing unit. As a DIY you have to follow the instructions to the T and everything will work out fine. In conclusion this unit it very quiet you don't even know it's running unless you stand infront of the condensing unit, very efficient and worth the money.. if you replace the lines make sure BOTH your new line are insulated for maximum efficiency. I did not purchase wifi unit. My thermostat is set at auto mode 80% of the time or 76 whlen it's 98F outside. Just remember even if you set your thermostat at 77F because the thermostat is in the Evaporator unit on your wall it's reading at that height. But where you sit will be 74 so don't let the numbers fool you,It will always be cooler. I am very satisfied with this unit and will be buying a 900btu for my bedroom and get rid of the window AC..I definitely recommend this costoway unit. Oh yeah . It's installed in my living room. See photos... NOTE: R32 is not yet a commonly known refrigerant among ac technicians so if you're going to hire a professional and you have to use a longer copper lines than which is provided, you are safe for up to 3ft more anything greater than that would require additional refrigerant. Make sure the installer has access to R32 before you buy the unit if it's a longer run..make sure not to waste any refrigerant and that you have absolutely no leaks... good luck.. it's a very good unit just install correctly. ... show more
