Features

  • For Northwood! Is a solo hand management and precision trick-taking game. Your objective is to peacefully unify the kingdom of Northwood through conversations with their rulers. Over eight rounds, you must visit eight animal fiefs and engage their rulers in dialogue (tricks).
  • Each ruler's suit represents the trump for that fief. Each ruler also requires you to win an exact number of tricks to join your alliance, so the game gets harder as your options dwindle.
  • You start with four allies, each with an ability that you can use once per visit. These abilities can make you draw, discard, or otherwise manipulate your hand to help you hit the target score. Once you've won a ruler over, you can pull them in to substitute temporarily for one of your allies, if you need a more specific set of abilities to tackle the harder fiefs.
  • With multiple difficulty levels, 24 rulers (12 used per game), and a 16-scenario challenge booklet, For Northwood! offers hours of gameplay with a new puzzle every time!

  • Fun, Addicting Game!
This is a great solo design with a cute theme. The trick-taking mechanism is unique, and, surprisingly, addictive. I love a game with a small footprint that's not too fiddly. This fills the bill!

  • Great solo trick taking game!
The quality of this game is top notch. The small tuck box is very sturdy and the cards are of excellent quality. There are so many variabilities in play. This one’s a keeper!

  • Simply BRILLIANT!
Solo trick-taking games shouldn’t be “a thing”, but it sure is now. What sets this apart are the plastic cards that will last many years, special abilities of cards in play that set this game apart from other solitaire pastimes, and the deliciously brain bending decisions you confront that make you want to come back for more. There is a massive amount of variety in the base game alone, but there’s also a full set of special scenarios to provide even more of a challenge whenever you want. Plays fast, quick setup/stow, and reasonably priced. All wins in my book! ... show more

  • Excellent, cute, relaxing solo game
This game is lots of fun and I have really enjoyed it. It has enormous replayability and the scenario booklet is a great addition. The game designer, Wil Su, has put so much care and detail into this wonderful game and I am happy to see this available on Amazon. The drawer-type box adds a great feel. The cards are PVC (plastic) which is durable for a game that requires lots of shuffling. Component quality is excellent and I am looking forward to many more plays. There is an element of luck in this, but a big part of the game is about increasing your odds of success with the usage of the ally cards and ruler selection. Having some luck in there keeps things interesting and avoids the analysis paralysis that I have felt in many other games. Great game! ... show more

  • Very Clever Solo Game
A solo trick-taking game? Really? Yes, and it's really quite well done, too! It is not a brain-burner of a game, but it's challenging, and there are meaningful decisions to be made each turn. Being a card game, there is a fair dose of randomness, but typical trick-taking skills can mitigate some of the randomness (e.g. tracking trump). Its small size makes it an easy pack for travel, but it has a large enough footprint that you're not going to pull it out on the plane as you do that travel. Once you get to where you're going, though, you're all set. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • I love this game!
I'm a huge fan of solitaire (solo) games, and this is one of the best I've played yet. It combines the best of classic solitaire card games with trick-taking games. Don't let the adorable art fool you - this is a challenging and engaging game for any age. And highly replayable thanks to the included campaign booklet that adds 16 variations of the basic game to make it even more challenging (and fun). ... show more
