    • Customer service is crap!!!
If I could give this product negative stars I would. I bought this generator thinking it would be a good one for my fish house. I did the proper break in process. Took my family out for a little camping trip. The generator worked flawless the first night. The next morning it would not even not generating power. I shut off the generator thinking it might have been warm. I let it rest a few minutes and tried to start it again and it wouldn't hardly turn over. I pulled the rope and it was very hard. We loaded up and went home. I called and emailed customer service. It took 2 days for them to get back to me. We went back and forth to which he said it was the inverter that was bad. Thank goodness I work in maintenance so I was able to take it apart. I unhooked the inverter and could pull the rope with ease. I took a month to receive a new inverter and when I opened the box. It was not in a static bag. It was bouncing around in the packing foam and there was packing foam in all the connectors, cooling fins and it looked used. There was witness marks on the connectors. I connected the so called new inverter and tested it before I put the whole generator back together. Again I couldn't hardly pull the rope. So I'm back to the beginning of this mess. I emailed genmax to either get a whole new generator or full refund of my purchase. ... show more

We bought the 4000 with electric start for ease of use for wife. I added the oil with supplied hose, put fuel in and it started right away. I had pulled the manual handle a few times before I put fuel in to circulate oil in cylinder. This generator is very quiet for sure. It weighs about 50 lbs so it's not super light, but you can carry it; it does not have any type of wheels, but I knew that. The electric start is sooo nice. I tried the pull start and only took 3 pulls and it was running. Make sure you remember these are shipped without oil. I can say I'm happy to have bought this and have no buyers remorse like I do sometimes. I give it a 2 thumbs up. ... show more

    • Dead on arrival, customer service won't respond.
This generator would not start on arrival. I have tried to contact their "support" and they have been no help. Amazon has taken care of me, but overall this has not been a good experience with GENMAX.

It arrived with a dead battery so no electric start. Tried hand pulling. Nothing. Checked everything imaginable. Nothing. Left msg on companies phone. No call back. Thank heavens for Amazon. Now I am shopping for another generator. I would rate it a zero if that was possible.

The media could not be loaded. STAY AWAY! Fire hazard! Started leaking gas immediately— clearly an issue with the carburetor. Multiple weeks and their “customer support” made promises to send a replacement part but have yet to send anything. I checked in recently to see when I should expect the replacement part and was then asked for photos of the carburetor…why? They have the model number, they should know what part to send. I sent them the photos anyway, and then they have been radio-silent. I will never buy anything from this brand ever again. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Poor quality generator, it came defective and Amazon doesn’t accept returns as advertised. Don't buy the insurance, they don't solve your problem and they don't even answer the email, today September 5, 2023 it's been 55 days since I've had the generator that never worked and I haven't had a response from Amazon or the insurance.
